this is my full review of the brand-new Calloway epic flash driver Callaway spent a lot of money on a supercomputer and apparently with its artificial intelligence it's making the club face faster than they have ever been able to make it before let's see if that's actually the case hi guys i'm rick shields PGA golf professional if you are new to my youtube channel welcome hit that subscribe button share this video around to you golf friends and also like the video we're going to be covering the Callaway epic flash and the Callaway epic flash sub-zero testing it a lot lighter and out on the golf course to see if a supercomputer artificial intelligence can make the ball come faster of this club face the big story with the new Callaway driver is it's going to produce more ball speed oh that's what they say and they've done that via this new flash face Callaway have spent a lot of money on a supercomputer using artificial intelligence this supercomputer has around 15,000 virtual prototypes to come to this new design which is the flash face design and it's baffled engineers because it looks nothing like driver faces I've ever seen before internally it is a series of thinning and thicknesses of the club face that are almost circulate around the center spot and out towards the perimeter which is claiming is going to be giving you faster ball speeds across the face and it looks so unusual because it doesn't look tired it's all neat it looks like it's it's almost a prototype that's gone wrong but this parent this supercomputer is testing it and test it and testing it until it says this is the best version that we can make inside the legal limits governed by the governing bodies and that's why they've put in the new callaway epic flash and i guess that's where the word flash comes from so that's the face behind the new callaway epic flash and the callaway epic flash sub-zero both drivers still featured jailbreak which is the big story over the last couple years for callaway a way of connecting the top and the the driver to give more stability epic flash is now introduced again the sliding way across the back of the perimeter it's got a new weave on top a new carbon we've apparently but they've removed any airflow aerodynamic features on the top of the crown which was a big story over the last couple years both drivers do feature the adjustable neck system and the epic flash sub-zero has a weight closer to the face to bring that spin down and the weight of the back isn't as heavy as the weight that's in the epic flash the one thing I find weird is the naming they've come back out with the name epic which really feels two years old now they're epic rogue and then the combats epic flash I think these could have just been called Callaway flash and calori flash sub-zero the price of the Callaway flash and the flash sub-zero at the time of release five hundred pounds and five hundred and twenty nine dollars which is definitely on the high side of the spectrum it's kind of where drivers are going at the moment they're all in around that five hundred mark so now it comes to the time of testing to see if the new flash face actually gives me any more ball speed where this supercomputer has designed something that's gonna make me hit the ball a lot further so GC quad pro v1 and I tested the sub-zero version first because that's the one that suits me the most weight a little bit more forward and these are numbers I got so I've got my optimum performance chart up on screen and I've got the epic flash sub-zero numbers coming into the screen now and as you can see we saw massive gains in distance 293 yards of carry distance 316 total distance which is huge high launch super low spin giving me long blonde hair some of the longest I've ever hit and test which was the flash sub-zero with the epic flash I was getting to eight for Kerry three or four so slightly higher spin not as high launch it's kind of what I normally see with the more standard version not the low spin but that's just me testing them then we go back to ball speed did we find any more ball speed with the Callaway epic the epic flash sub-zero well the answer is yes with the sub-zero is getting 161 point five miles per hour and the flash 160 miles per hour and those numbers are definitely on the top end of our spectrum however they're not the fastest I've ever got from drivers I've ever tested Callaway's tend to give me very fast ball speeds and at their the time of testing I also put the Rogues in to test to see how much of a difference it made from last year's models and it was marginal gains but it was gains the sub-zero from last year versus the new sub-zero I was getting one and a half miles per hour faster ball speed and that was giving me slightly more distance bear in mind only two to three yards of extra distance by fine that the Callaway drivers do produce fast ball speeds whether that's the jailbreak whether that's the new flash face whether it's a combination of everything I do hit these a long way get them out on the golf course and testing them that's where we went next [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so after spending some time with both drivers out on the golf course I saw similar results from the launch monitor I was hitting these drivers a long way they were absolutely being smoked why I also found with both drivers off sense of hit performed really well I didn't feel like I got punished that badly when I didn't hit the middle of the face she's huge positive for someone who doesn't hit the middle of the face all the time I really like the shade pink of the Callaway flash sub-zero it's a slightly smaller head shape noticeably smaller than the flash and it just is very pleasing to the eye when it's at behind the golf ball and the things that I disliked with the epic flash and the epic flash sub-zero was the sound of these two drivers high so high pitched it was tinny I appreciate a personal preference but I really love the sound of the original epic I thought I was the best sound kind of crunchy carb and dead noise you can get from a driver where both the flash and the sub-zero didn't offer that was much more high-pitched another thing personally I'm not a big fan of is the cosmetics don't particularly like the bright green or the yellow and even bringing the word epic back in it feels like it's dated too quickly and I realize again that's something that I'm not fond of and other people will do but when you are looking to purchase a driver it's important to factor in all these components because when you spend in this type of price tag on a driver 500 pounds plus $500 you need to love it too bit so therefore anything kind of slightly puts you off it might really put you off the quality of driving or even the performance because it could affect it in that way distance wise it's right up there these things are flying machines and for me certainly the Sub Zero was high on the end of the spectrum if it sounded better and have a slight different paint job which is actually something that might be worth noticing I think they are bringing out a sort of customization option which I think a lot of people might do maybe that's why they made it this horrible green color it's worth giving it a go because I found good distance and good gains guys thanks for watching my full review of the Callaway epic flash and their flash sub-zero thanks for watching we'll see you next time [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music]

Flash Gordon saved every one of us I was thinking last night is it the same color as Flash Gordon I've got the Callaway yeah epic flash we've gone flash so this is the new Callaway epic there's a flash to standard and a subzero Toby two videos this is the flash we're gonna start indoors we're gonna go around the course as well and we're gonna present some numbers so we're just gonna present some numbers now we've got some tech bit as well let's get epic flashing first impressions have looked down by the ball Daniel son very nice Callaway always make a nice looking head don't they it's it's very similar to the old epic I would say but yes just got a slightly different detail on it but very nice first looks so Dan's going to collect these numbers first and I'm going to collect some will take you outside as well first shots in don't go to 16 carbon crown kind of stuff so interesting one with this go on you know Callaway the last certainly the epic and the rogue that we have before it's very it's almost a bit fuddy you know I've talked about that before it's not tinny and study but this one is now moving a little bit further away from the 30 and more into a sort of tinning sound so not a bad sound but but certainly slightly different to the previous models all right let's break down so I'm going to take let's see what Callaway say about the epic flash see what all the new talk is about so the big talking point is going to be the flash face on the epic flash drivers so Callaway are using artificial intelligence so they're using if you like a supercomputer they call it to simulate probably hundreds of thousands of strikes across the face - then get the computer to try and learn how to design a club face which is obviously something that their engineers would have done in the past collecting data from users machine hits across the tip effects and then trying to maximize it for off-centered hits as well as centered but the flash face is using the computer to generate the idea of how the face should look and if you see the pictures of the face we do get a dramatically different looking face how much difference that will make in actual performance what we're gonna see in this test today but it's very much a unique way of designing the face the classic part that the engineers have normally been kind of putting weight in the middle and then trying to keep it like fake hands it's kind of combination of thick and thin in different places where we're seeing this kind of ripple effect of thick and thin now so that's quite unique jailbreak technology is still in this club and it's good to see that it is it's something I've always been quite happy to see and saw some benefits when I was using epic driver so we get these two bars from the bottom joining up to the tops or stabilizing the top and the bottom of the club had a little more a little bit more again all trying to maximise off-centered hits as well as centered hits we need to create more ball speed if it flash also has a new tri-axial crown again trying to redistribute weight from the top into more useful places to help you hit the ball a little bit further and hopefully keep it on line a bit more and then we get the adjustability in the back of the epic flash with a 16 gram moveable weight which allows you to move it from the back into the heel into the toe again giving you in the fitter a little bit of dial ability on any kind of where you want your center of gravity's on that head reference the way you strike it also a little bit of shot shaping help as well we also get the neck changeable neck which we've seen now for many generations again giving you options of changing shafts it comes with high quality shafts as well and obviously all the custom fit options but also darling in lofts and lies always just try and help that fitter get Club that might dial into your game as much as possible [Music] so the face is the new talking point supercomputer is being used to develop the face yeah obviously we're not going to see it's not a visual tech no I'm not sure if we're even gonna feel it as in maybe it's something over a period of a year or so that you might see the benefits or do you think well well they're saying they're getting a bit more bull speed out of it I think is what they're kind of coming up with for this one well it's maximized by the compute of the face to try and help hits across the face in it so it's rather than just using their simulated and player testing they've run hundreds of thousands of tests I guess with this computer yeah and the computers learnt the design the face it's like saying well let people hit it here it needs to be thicker here but people also hit it here and they want wants to be thinner here there's almost like a ripple effect across there a bit like similar to what you're seeing in these circles here as the stone goes in it's rippling out from there that's what I kind of saw from the images I saw yeah previously they've gone from an Excel yeah they've got correct Therma in the middle and then as it sort of disperses out as you get to the sort of more rigid part of the heads we say around the outside then it starts to get a lot thinner but I think here we're seeing different pockets of different thicknesses rippling throughout the face so we'll test and see testing for miss hits is something that isn't as obvious as you will think which I will do a video on even if there are people saying they are testing for miss it's there not which I'll explain later on but if we see anything different with this base obviously we will show you in technology that they feel this work for their drivers in the past and why would you then move away from that I think it's something that's been so popular and certainly helping their ball speeds then you know keep it in that range good thing for you yeah I think they kind of identifies them doesn't it you know it's I think when you start to see this or carve and look on the back you can see what they're trying to do is pull the weight obviously off the top of the crown stop maneuvering it into different parts of the head I think again it's more of a visual thing but I like it it doesn't frames the driver quite nicely and then you've got the align grip on the back as wow you liking that show us the back of that grip daniel-san yeah it almost feels like the old ribbing then well it is yeah I mean that's kind of where the golf pride have kind of gone back to this MCC align grip here which allows you sort of to get your fingers in the right place and obviously as the neck moves on these what's unique we care the way like you said is that isn't going to move no that's what I love about about these and when you're doing fittings for people you know because people change and swings change you know it's always nice to be out of them maneuver the shaft to the position of where you kind of want it so when I look down at being a slightly OCD when I look down a shaft I don't want to see that writing looking back yeah yeah so what happens is in this neck if you can maneuver everything around some maneuver the shaft to where you kind of want it which works well with the align grip right downs this finishing off of his numbers let's go out on the course and show you what happened when we took it out when there was bouncing wind and it was a little bit nemi so epic flash the star let's see how it goes out on the course [Music] does that feel how does a flash build an absolutely superb off the club face it's just it was a really nice flight as well it popped up nicely high in the air for me so yeah although I have a pretty straight shot there's lovely so here's my epic flash I hit this okay just slightly down the right not my kind of world beat and strike but decent yeah and you've hit a great one downs way down there in the middle how did you feel you hit that good struck it as well as I can hit it really and that's gone as far as you would get down this hole with any clever is it not absolutely with this cold weather we've got today that's as long as I will come down here yes a shot very good right this is the new par 5 here at Torquay doglegs around to the lessor what we're gonna do with this club is we're gonna go longest drive okay and let's see if we can turn it a little bit right to left because that will get it going around this tree a little bit so it's shape and you need to be giving it what for both of these shots we're gonna be obviously keeping it in the standard setting we'll do all the work okay can you maneuver this one to start it out to the right it's going back but not loads she get two cracks of the whip Dan you can have another go so you can pick your best one I think the wind is actually slightly off the left yeah like that that's gonna be hard to beat that when you've nailed Avenue yeah great shape love it yeah so straight so straight is it early so that is just a little bit right yeah straight and a cup right this is a win for Dan this is his flash epic store drawing round the corner so a little bit of shape but it shaped Lots from where you started it and then mine is about the same distance but I didn't get any shape so I would say we're not far off the same here parting you one on the shape yeah it would take both but very good drive of yours dad thank you you felt like you could I mean I felt like I could move it I just caught those two out the hill I felt I could do what I want with I felt like I could do whatever I wanted with that curb I think it's definitely a lot straighter from the beginning as in like I think I feel like I do feel like you have to work them right but I definitely feel like I can do what I want to do with that driver yeah so as expected out on the corpse it was nice feeling that I I thought I could hit it whichever direction I wanted to it's it's really neutral doesn't look Calloway lovely always like look at their drivers and this doesn't fail at all that it agreed and white lipstick around the back carbon top straightness of the look as it goes down into the ball and I like the little video on top of always like the little V liner I'm kind of mark oh it just looks neat and smart so is ro continuing what happened there like this driver to me feels a little bit like so we had a pic which was pretty good yeah it's a great time I mean cause we've got lots of pros and look like the woman's paws went all over it and then we went rogue and I was expecting epic well flash when rogue happened I'm not quite sure what's happened there yeah there was like a little stopgap and rogue jumped in just yeah but anyway we're here now flash looks wise as good as Callaway yeah it does make that lovely Callaway fuzzier sound which I like from with Hans are you noticing any difference in that let's say compared to what because you gained the old the old epic I'll hit a few more but no I think four I think I think the main thing with this club is going to be the hidden tech the computer designing face will it make a difference over time everything else to me is feeling very much like what epic did yeah and I'd say that's a good thing one thing I've always struggled with that particular Hedley the epic the standard epic should we say yeah it's the the little mark on the top when I look down at it it looks closer to the heel it does it look like that to you or you're not noticing anything there but it's almost like the top end is so bold just so we say I know what's funny so you've got your graphic on the face which is there to try and tell you like it's doing nothing it's there to try it it's actually more marketing this is fair to say we're doing something in here that you can't see yeah if I hit this driver know of a driver while I used to wear out a little mark on my driver like if you'd like you do with your wedges and stuff yeah mind always there yeah and if you look at that and when they ship to the to the jaw angle so a little look at that so I'm hitting it there yeah because that's where I'm getting the most speed out of it from my face to the path path deliveries and club head speed again why you can't test for miss its this is my Center this is my hot spot it's not the geometric center anywhere measuring from geometric Center doesn't understand a that sweet spot is dynamic it moves as face the path deliveries moves and also different parts of the face are moving at different speeds this part is traveling fast in this part again put in how you're releasing the club into that could be more noticeable not than other golfers interest in that so you could I could hit it eight millimeters toe yeah and tell you this cars really good at the time but that's one of my hot spots yeah oh my where I did it four millimeters here when it dropped way back and it's our actually just really rubbish out the hill but the next person who hits with a face over to the path they're gonna be hotter like Broadhurst we fill the pool borders he had a way of marking his driver and it was here that's where his hottest part of the face was through delivering so basically if I'm gonna hit a fade or a draw I didn't need to hit this club in a different position on the face to get the most out of it just that you know it's just it's ridiculous I'm loving the sound of it I've always been a fairly Carraway drivers I've gained one this is feeling more epic the freshness is about that time of you know it's the tech that you can't see and we need to say something flash is a big work I love the looks the rail is good for people who want dial in a little bit yeah I think we should check these numbers out numbers time Dan you carrying two five eight yeah longest was two six three oh god yeah shortest was 255 so relatively consistent hitting yeah you were spinning at 2/3 averaging to three lowest spinning at one eight five seven yeah you didn't get anything over to six two six nine four was your highest that's low for me so as a like the medium model not the low-spin model it's kind of their edging down aren't they always when I used to test these clubs done for ten years you've got two models you're around two five two two eight on the standard one yeah down to near 2000 on the low spinner these it seems nowadays it's more like 2 6 2 mm on the low spin earth in me which i think is quite interesting launching at 14 degrees peak height in 36 yeah so good numbers 2 6 3 or longest so for me my longest 263 I average 2 5 7 2 your 2 5 8 to you at 1 yard on me my shortest was 2 for 2 and if I take the two for two out I go two to five nines again the same as you one above you so pretty good 2 6 3 down to 2 for 2 what's interesting with the two for two right she just quit me on strike only four millimeters Hill freemen of me is low 7 millimeters from the center of the club I've got one here shot 15 23 millimeters toe 10 millimeters high yeah it's a high toe massively high toe this shot that one went to 5 9 test for Miss it's there that's worth another video getting on my nerves 33 millimeters away from geometric Center yeah going much further than one that's only seven millimeters away from geometric Center if anyone is feeding you miss hip testing and stuff they have getting it completely wrong I promise you and we all do it's just a bulky video so I'm working on it I get I'm spending up to 4 to your to 3 I'm launching it to 12.5 you're launching at 14 I'm peak lighting at 2 Phi sorry 32 you're 36 you're definitely getting up Dan I'm been working on ice to see but yet again I'm 11.45 on efficiency yeah you're averaging one point three nine you have a lot still to give so even though you should be getting more Oakland strike strike strike e strikey strikey good numbers very good a decent Club yeah I'm like in the epic flash I think it would appeal to a lot of people I'm happy we're back to epic rogue I'm short continues they sometimes quite like two or three brands in their driver line you get a bit bulky in their driver life I think this comes an appeal to a lot of people jailbreak always happy that's their I seem to like what it's done sliding mate for dialing it in I think that's just a nice looking good Callaway driving at new I agree with you you go push comes down below let me know what you think is on you will try all not Callaway fan or not in that comment section down below thanks your time as always that thank you flash showing the softener [Music] what is up spies Sam Robinson here coming at you from the 2019 PGA show demo day we are at the Fuji career booth I've got the Fuji career at most blue shaft I've got my old epic versus the new ethics we want to see if this epic flash it's worth anything I've got our juicy quad loaded up ready to get some data we're going to start with the regular epic [Music] [Music] all right now I'm gonna swap this head out put the epic flash in it and we'll see what we get I've now got the epic flash shafted up we're using the same exact shaft all do to swap the heads we got the same settings we're gonna see what we get this is the first time I hit the epic flash actually looks pretty good a little bit like a road [Music] here's a little spinny err ball speeds are up [Music] Wow Wow oh good lord okay [Music] I know it's windy out here we're talking normalized numbers subjectively I don't think it felt better but I can't argue with those numbers that thing is damn good and I'm that's the first time I've hit the epic flash and I'm extremely surprised I'm really excited to get it back to the office for testing put it in most one two testing sue we get the damn I hate to say but caliber you did it again Wow [Music]
THE CALLAWAY EPIC FLASH DRIVER IS HOT!

[Music] [Laughter] [Music] all right we're out at EC PC and we're gonna do some testing for Callaway and their new products and hit that new flash driver and BIC have made it in and they're not letting me in right now all right here we go are you feeling oh great I'm gonna learn all about this new epic flash today we're here at Callaway's fitting center that you like Callaway Center up here in Carlsbad California and we're gonna see what they have to offer so first time they're anything like this so really honor to be here and a big THANK YOU to Callaway for inviting us should be a lot of fun behind the scenes [Music] pick up Daniel so well so happy new year happy new alright guys today we are up at Callaway's you like holloway center they're gonna be launching the epic flash driver today which the CEO we heard him talk about it last night at a dinner that they had and he told us all about the technology that went into it a lot of artificial intelligence supercomputing that a lot of just crazy stuff that they put into this driver and it's supposed to be revolutionary we've heard a lot of a gulf manufacturers say that over the years so we're gonna we're here to find out if that's true or not so we're gonna get to hit it today and really talk to some of the people have to help design it and build it so it really should be a fun day yeah I've heard nothing but great thanks about the flash driver and I also watched a little preview with Aaron wise and good ball speed increased by three or four miles an hour and also Sergio so that equates to about nine to twelve yards of you know distance and that's one extra Club closer to the green and yeah definitely looking forward to this alright guys so today we're gonna walk your around this place we're gonna show you what the behind the scenes all looks like we're also gonna be doing drivers fitting like I mentioned putter fitting Anthony that works for Callaway it does all the wedge stamping he's gonna be here so we're gonna go and talk to him we've talked to him a little bit last night he had some really cool stories about some of the wedges he's designed so we asked him to bring them his book that has some of the cool designs he's done over the years so a lot of fun stuff and a big THANK YOU Callaway for having us again we've been working on trying to make really bad and terrible but when you really look at the stats they're not getting any better so it's like okay something else must be going cutters had gotten so heavy heavy heads heavy rips not so much heavy grips but every swing weights coupled with these heads that have gotten so heavy the putter has really sort of become just connected to it till is often it is stroke the putter really starts to kind of try to control the stroke so we just looked at I think there's a way to develop a putter differently weighted totally different or we could kind of bring it back a little bit so it would be more connected so it's a way of really making the entire putter have much higher mo AI inertia than just the hip and what's happened is because we develop that shaft which is like programs life and is they're really naturally so how long you been making sputters you know I've always I've always done all kinds of clubs but footers are are no drivers are fun but there's you know they're really heavily regulated now more than ever right but I don't thirty years probably something like that I lost 15 years a lot more so in the last five years pretty much that's yeah and how long you been with Callaway two and a half years so I I had spent about twenty-one years of the street that Taylor made and that was fun and retired and I meant to retire and I have three kids two of them talk me into starting a clutter company called tool on design that was in the middle of 2015 which I thought was going to be awesome but it's starting a company is more it's hard and it's a there's a lot of a lot of stress and strain and stuff that goes into it and you know we started with a little bit more knowledge than a lot of people starting in Ralph Elkins good we got off to a great start and then about eight months into it but I got a call from chip and Harry and next thing you know we're over here yes yeah thanks for me yeah yeah yeah for me nice to meet you yeah yeah great and if you guys need something okay we're gonna do I can see you all right awesome all right be good guys all ready it's a new version of the same putter I'm playing it's a seven it's got this carbon-fiber stroke lab shaft and this thing looks sexy so let's see if I could take a quick Finn ski off the coach oh trying to decide whether I'm gonna do the the stroke lab or the two ball stroke lab so I'm gonna go with without the two ball on this one I'm gonna take a couple bucks off it won't go all right so we're out here with a couple a fleet we got steel over here what's going on buddy how we done it hmm and we got Evans how's it going we're gonna do a little putting contest to nine holes alternates dog I'll go first [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] coach so steady I love that all right should come back off of this hill we've hit this putt a few times stay he knows the line all right not too shabby it's got like a little 4-footer left there oh man so good little two footer yeah what a pot yep all right big cat it's your pick these are these surfer wakeboarder boys who are professional like that or semi-professional at some golf we're just getting warmed up [Music] baby you do where take off how about just sudden-death yeah for 10k this is it yeah you get to pick guys Sergio Garcia hittin some balls for everybody and doing some interviews right there oh no took it too far to the right oh man I think no matter what you do I think we have a head start that's alright I'll pop that in on them that's not good enough oh this might be off the green steel no no no it's good I like it still still and confident with that one down there [Applause] defender [Laughter] all right that's nice oh well done all right so for the win okay yeah all right so we we have Roger Cleveland with us right here and it's been a pleasure meeting you I love all you is been a huge fan since I was a kid and it's great to finally meet you well thank you yeah what can you tell us about some of the new wedges that you have this is this is Phil's latest renditions what we've done so that allows your handsome we didn't want to drive a little 530 go beyond provided that it is different we got into this any of those ideas we've incorporated are you ready by closer together sort of whatever and that's really unfortunate degrees of course the grooves but all the way to the to the face [Music] away from the sky and so I start face you start to have [Music] that's what we did there the other thing we have Micro positives so yes G restricts us how much face roughness we have so but we we are introduced a positive all right where we cut in know when you're out back to return we put them on an angle angle in this way so it's a little bit more so we have a tight leading edge here again a tight leading edge here so it's less displacement now function rough and that's what he loves we changed the sole a little bit it's like a mini sure item is he loves it behind the ball let it slide through that's what your children and it also looks like the toe you increase the size of it well we with the height of the Dovizioso it just more forgiveness we lower this so it actually looks and it also looks like there's a groove a little bit lower on the face is that something well I'll pick it up on everything we ask you to all that to nip it group yes on little little shots you actually get that okay this is a very highly technical wedge but it's it's been copied okay and but this is this the original right here it's beautiful so you've got a few different finishes we have a beautiful chrome a milky Crone and and what about the the weights in the back actually those we're just kiddin NFL yeah this is the greatest which make that they really felt awesome [Music] it hits a little baby draw little rock that was behind again sucks back about a foot I just first shot that's it no more stretch it it's gotta be the club right it is the club wow this thing felt amazing it's a self shooter right around Oh [Music] yes all the other five not always close to the green they might have come out what's the bounce on very balanced I should go through the wall just trailing yet that's it leading edge of that furniture skidding you divine jelly this guy your friend okay yeah definitely change the dynamic on the wedge game and I've been a huge fan of yours since I was a kid so thank you I've learned from the great players Thank You Alyssa getting [Music] okay all right thank you right here all right happy new year the other one okay so I was really nervous talking to Roger Cleveland back there it's kind of like the innovator of wedges and I've been playing his wedges since I can remember it's always been one of my favorites and for him to be out here and you know showing his product at Callaway it's pretty amazing a little bit awestruck with him he actually invited us out to LA country club so we might have to take him up on that offer and yeah he's just a innovator into the game and really changed the dynamics of the wedge and it's really great for me to meet him and share a little time with him all right so we got Jason Finley with us he is the global golf ball designer for Callaway and what can you tell us about the new golf ball you guys designed yeah so the ERC softball is one of our new golf balls for 2019 it's a really exciting new product cuz it's really all about redefining what's your expectation of a distance boy so you know when I was a kid I remember playing in a scramble and I would hit a distance ball off the tee and I'd switched to another brands ball at the time before Callaway had won but so this is gonna be a couple that's gonna bring those two things together so you got a golf ball that's gonna be the longest golf ball in our line but it's still gonna have all the spin and control that even a really good player will be able to play so that part's exciting and we've done that a couple ways first is we've got a new hybrid cover on the golf ball that's gonna bring a few of the things we've done in other golf balls in the past even in the mantle we're bringing those materials in to the cover of the golf ball and then we've got our graphene duel soft vest for similar to what you found in the chrome soft golf ball that really is the best engine to make a golf ball and then new for this year we have triple track technology as well that you can see here which is really three lines that are gonna have you help you have more accuracy and consistency when you're lining the ball up particularly on the green but it won't work on the tee as well so is this comparable to the the new chrome soft or is it something a little different so it's a little bit different the chrome soft still going to be our highest performing golf ball around the green and the ball that you know all of our Tour players will play but this is gonna be you know the next level down so even you know you're low single-digit player will do this you know we all can't hit shots like Phil can around the green unfortunately but this is gonna you know it's gonna stop on full shots it's going to have that check that you're looking for around the green may launched a little bit higher on the little pitches around the green but in general this is going to be the next best to the chrome saw but it is going to be longer than the okay awesome thank you so much Jason yeah all right so we got Dave Neville senior director of product design brand man brand manager excuse me close enough so what can you tell us about the new driver you guys got going I'm really excited to announce the new epic flash line of drivers and the big technology in this driver is the new flash base the first phase design using artificial intelligence what does that mean the typical driver face you'd have about five to seven photos faced with this driver we did 15,000 virtual prototypes that means we had the fastest face possible to go with this shape we have two models we have the standard model and we have the Sub Zero Sub Zero is going to be a little bit lower spin they both have the adjustable perimeter way for shot shape control cracks of carbon to crown and of course the innovative jailbreak technology awesome anything new on the the iron side yes with the irons we have the all-new ATX iron so that replaced the CF 16 this is really a category changing iron for us it's a forged or performance iron has all the distance technologies in a beautiful Ford shape so it's got a 360 face cup it's got mint Tungsten's weightings for shots hit control urethane microspheres to give you a great sound and feel and beautiful beautiful looks we have the apex we've got an apex Pro which will be our number one plate a second product out on tour it's a little bit more compact shape but all that distance technology and then apex right bird as well when we're bringing jailbreak to the hybrid for the first time awesome thank you Dave no problem [Music] I got that apex Pro forged irons hitting the 5-iron right here feels really nice feels forgiving scout stiff flex shaft in in so so far so good I'm only hit a few shots with it but I did hit the 7-iron and wedge with it those felt really nice coming off the phase so but for me it's always the long lines I could always I could hit a long iron good and one of the sets then usually although all the folks before that or [Music] the porch apex pro irons I got the 7-iron I'm securing it the ball flight is boring it's right up in not a lot of movement I really like these I might be switching to him [Music] [Music] I'm doing the driving fitter with Marco yeah so we're doing the driving driver sitting right now go to the new epic clash we're gonna see what we start with this is a 9/10 okay I'm set to 10 we got a project X [Music] yeah tracking uh scotch on average three degrees down to get here launched in the nine windows pretty good target attack angle without your spin getting above twenty six or seven hundred I look at your for best shot at launching the spin I was looking at eleven twenty two hundred so [Music] the next 25 is draw bias [Music] another thing you can do here [Music] five right I prefer the nine plus one for us [Music] all right Marco would you go with all right so ended up with the epic flash regular one-off the Sub Zero the Sub Zero is a little bit lower spinning and I was just kind of in need of a fight and that one's kind of bringing down by my fault might launch and just been so wasn't really getting anything so we want the regular one in ten and a half with 10 C shaft Xbox 65 gram 45 inches so hope feels awesome feels like it's shooting off the face and this person looks really good on it I was telling them a little bit so I think with a little bit of practice I'll be able to get this thing dialed and put in the bag all right flash sub-zero [Music] that was pretty level with your attack angles first one almost a pretty level as well Pat they go a little into out Sub Zero you're like a French Canada sub here he doesn't get anything I on the face yet you want to try the standard head as well just to see how that compares give me two more with that so we got a better average I've just got the last two on there yeah I think I think we might I just need to swing it loose we're losing at you're getting your mash now standards gets overwhelmed by the Sub Zero having a slightly more efficient launch and spin they end up getting about the same carry a little more wrong with this okay it looks like you've got two good options either either one you decide to turn over and on Sub Zero you don't turn over too much I mean there's not really a dramatic difference between the two as far as I had to pick for you I would pick the last one - just knowing that I'll tendency if you don't hit it great you'll catch them low on the basis of zero keep it down a little Sub Zero and that's pretty well set up neutral so you take the weight slide it into toe it turns over a little too much after on course trial house climb or in the heel that's turnover and now we've got three stock Jeff one of them a new shaft new version of the tend to be she's making the hazardous smokes their newest bench lightweight chat looks like we're gonna go with the the sub-zero ten-and-a-half epic flash it's got a little bit of our launch cuz I do a little bit so it's 10 min have set up neutral and standard on the lion law then it's at the tenths a six five gram next flex and I'll pipe it down the middle so be my new driver in the bag hey what's up Anthony good to see you alright so what do we got on this table this is have you been to my shop you've been the tour - yes briefly this is a small mobile unit look my desk looks like at work in the calpro - or head work like some of my favorites some of the were rejects that I kept does display for the Ryder Cup - my hire the star was just a little off so this becomes display shall we [Music] it was supposed to be an X and a seat I made two exes so this is now mine it's smart yeah I have to make a new one but a little bit some ideas a lot of music on my way to work so here's a little awesome and I pretty much just gonna make wages all day every once in a while I'll have to build the driver somebody or instead of irons but mostly just wages all right so what do you do for Callaway I'm a pro tour builder and I like to help myself motor ability wedge arts specialist and so I make these wedges for the tour plan once a month I'll make a set of three wedges and Callaway auctions on their website for charity all the money raised goes to charity all those are silly so this would be an example of something that might be on the auction well red white and blue yeah so I my style I like starting to strive for a white and blue and I like skulls and stars just what I just end up doing if I'm sitting there looking at away it ends up with schools are sorry so this is the new p.m. grind and these are all as you can see the skulls the stars lightning bolts the flames and I just painted the flames just to make it pop a little bit that's awesome - great awesome and how long you been with Callaway this coming up to ten over twenty years Wow and what's what's one of the coolest experiences you've had with Callaway just meeting players it's like you know Michelle Michelle oh yeah order on my desk and go register Michelle said her like what are we doing this time in the first tile I made her legit she's like let's do Harry potter-themed and it's like great that's gonna be awesome and then I put the phone down how the hell am I gonna do Harry Potter day why Jesus those are the best legit was very cool amazing about these are awesome so after I panic I kind of figure it out and it's like okay we could do this we'll do some lasering and I figure out something she has a couple favorite smells and we did that and it turned out great Michelle are you playing the Harry Potter wedges right now no I think I'm ready to bring him back though baby I think Michelle yeah I think she has something like this right now but it was pretty similar that I think it has Weezy on it right yeah awesome so we're due for some new ones which is cool because then I have opportunity just to make something else it's hard alright awesome thing to see you thank you building for the tour players like Michelle it's crazy to me [Music] awesome stuff Anthony thanks [Music] all right this is going on not to man he's just been dropping them bow I love it a bit fun Wow how's that bro I got a visit I think I was in Indianapolis or visiting the Cleveland the day I jump over Tonya - mm-hmm yep how he did it [Laughter] maybe we should get into trick shots I don't need [Music] Bob mentary here you know the guy's been a rough day out here behind the Sun there's been no alcohol stop my offense flaw not having too much fun maybe well this guy's about to fucking kill me you gonna join us for a course vlog one of these days that was that was of course let's go out and play some golf and showcase the you know the round and yeah let's have some fun I'm in I'm in we're heard you're friends with Jermaine Dye so the I oversee loose yeah Club yeah we're gonna tell actually matter of fact you're made you've abducted me for a very long time now and I know you have it the same value tape gold tape I've whipped your ass the first time of your home course the second time I had an injury the third match is coming up waiting for you and I don't know to be honest with you yeah they'll probably playing golf suited that you know the Eagles first round we'll think about coming at you I'm gonna hit you the end right now guarantee [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Laughter] he just froze [Music] [Applause]
Final Words
Overall, the Callaway Golf Epic Flash Driver is impressive.
We LOVED the innovation by Callaway especially the Flash Face for better speed.
Its architectural design contributes in providing more forgiveness for every golf stoke, too.
So, if you want to create that accurate launch and better spin on the golf ball, then you shall try how this golf driver performs.
