Our Honest Star Rating
Why is it the BEST?
After many hours of research and testing we arrived at the very difficult decision of picking just 5 balls.
We recognised that there had to be an emphasis on picking the best balls for a player with an impressive handicap. It had to be done just right.
I am sure that you know how finding the right golf ball can be like looking for that slipper for Cinderella’s foot.
There are many close calls, but very few that will fit the bill. If you are not careful, you may end up with a golf ball that is inadequate. It can be a learning process, enjoy it.
If your golfing game is important to you, the ball must be important to you as well.

1. Titleist Pro V1 Prior Generation Golf Balls - TOP PICK
Our Honest Star Rating
The Titleist Pro V1 is one of the top picks for golf balls at any level.
Written on the box are the words “#1 Ball in golf”.
That is a bold statement. So, we had to put it all to the test.
The ball is designed to offer enhanced distance and consistent flight. This means you get a reduced spin off the tee when you take a long shot.
For your short game, there is great control with each shot.
Not that it matters much at 10 handicap. Even with their firmness and performance level, these balls maintain a relatively soft feel. It is a well-balanced ball.
You will get a mid-range flight, low long game spin, very little iron spin and a lot of spin on your short game. This means that you have great control of your shots over long distances.
You will then also be able to add that needed spin on the green. When it comes to putting, I don’t need to tell you how significant this is.
To achieve this, they have revolutionised the design. It has a spherically-tiled 352 tetrahedral dimple design.
There’s a next generation 2.0 ZG process core. Finally, there is also a soft urethane elastomer cover system and an ionomeric casing layer. If you have no idea what half of this is, do not worry, most people don’t need to know.
All you need to know is that these are the things that make up this ball. I’ll explain a little.
The 2.0 ZG process core is what gives you the longer distance with every shot. It lowers spin and increases ball speed.
The ionomeric casing contributes to getting you more speed on your shots, while also giving you spin control on full shots.
Once you are on the green, the cover system comes into its own. Your drop-and-stop, as well as your all-around game on the green, is down to the cover system.
It is also responsible for providing durability.

An HONEST Review
last week I did a professional ball fitting with a Titleist expert to find out what golf ball I should use and in the end it came down to either Pro v1x or Titleist velocity but it just depends on price and affordability so really that video ended with a question will I see much difference from a premium golf ball to a premium performance golf ball in layman's terms expensive versus cheap let's do it and let's do it now so we've come out here on the golf course we're going to play a hand full of holes playing the title is pro v1x and also the velocity i'm going to see what the field difference is what the performance difference is does one go further than the other does one spin a lot more than the other well we already know that thanks to the dry ball data but we'll come to that in a second I'm going to go kick that first shot with the velocity was a fantastic shot but it's gone ten yards long [Music] yeah I'm gonna go on the basis that neither of those balls have got along because of the ball just down to poor clubbing for myself but I felt like I had to the second one the same as the first one to give it a fair test let's get down there and see what the like around the Greens nice [Music] [Music] so just pull clipping Maranatha both felt pretty good I didn't feel a much of a difference with the balls off the club face if anything the cheaper ball the velocity may be felt a touch softer but hey we're only one shot in right that was the velocity and I expected that to stop a lot quicker let's see how much stop we get from the pro v1x the more expensive golf ball I'm really hoping this isn't the way that this video is going to go because that was pretty one-sided [Music] massive changing feel there would the PATA the velocity felt so hard and the pro v1x I mean I'm used to using that anyway so it just felt that nice and soft like it like you would expect a premium golf ball to feel now really interesting when we did the dry ball testing with Joe from Titleist on these golf balls it was a big misconception which a lot of people feel you want low spin with the driver low spin he's the key low spins the answer to longer drives but Joe dispelled that myth for me I had to get the ball spinning more to get more distance some of the drives with the lowest spinning balls like the AVX were dropping out the sky and not even reaching the peak of the height let's see just how different the velocity and Pro v1x actually perform that was a vast it and I can't hit a ball better than that it was a nice trajectory it seemed to be spinning good let's see if the pro v1x can keep up with it or even get past it just as good a stripe slightly left it could depend on the bounce down here but this is what I like about on course testing let's go and see which one's gone farthest so hit those comments below guys who here has got out and tested golf balls on the golf course I know we do it with drivers we do it with putters we even do it irons in some cases well I guess they're seen as the big purchases aren't that they're seen as the big money buys a golf ball is just a tenner for a sleeve of three isn't it or less than that if that's what you're gonna go and buy so walking down here now we've got one bang Center which i think is going to be the velocity and there's one just in the left unreal which is going to be the pro v1x both similar distances and the Miss fairways just down to power error I did took it a little bit so I brought both balls into the middle of the fairway here to give it a fair test we are about I'll tell you exactly what we are 440 yards where I'm going to hit a nice a 9-iron with both shots I'm gonna give it a fair test see what the both feel like in fact scratch that we're going to hit wedge because it just doesn't seem that far it's gonna be really interesting to see how the balls land the pro v1 should spin a little bit more I should have more control than the velocity which should kick forward a little bit more oh that's what happened in the dry ball beta to similar strikes there - pretty similar results in fairness I didn't see a lack of I didn't see a lack of control with the velocity at all and the pro v1x just did what I expected it to do it sat down pretty nicely so so far apart from the velocity feeling a little bit hard off the putter face no difference in distance on two good hits and they were two good hits off the back of that tea so is it worth saving your money and getting velocity balls as you can see here - pretty decent shots [Music] may I could say that was an unfair test but I tested the Pacers but the ball stopped with velocity 8 Pro v1x four and a half so we're going to lose some mass chipping and putting at the end on the putting green it's quite busy out here today so we're now on a par 3 I'm going to hit several and with both what I'm going to pay attention to on this shot is the launch angle well with the naked eye and the overall height of the shot gonna be really interesting to see that the velocity launched a lot higher on the dry ball data and went higher so their shot so therefore it should land softer right but the pro v1x was spinning a lot more so it was in essence under a lot more control and the pitching wedge on that last shot went really low with the velocity and that's and I would anyway let's just hit some shots velocity first up that's like a couple of feet away look to land softly off as well now that's interesting so I've put pretty much exactly the same swing on both those shots the first one with the velocity is very very close and I was out in the second one with the pro v1x up and down as well but it looks to have flown 5 to 10 yards long and I didn't see the trajectory difference or that the peak height difference as you will that we saw on the dry ball numbers if you've not watched the video of the trap man testing for these golf balls then I've put a link right at the beginning so make sure you check that out but I mean as it stands that velocity is 5 foot from the flag might be further than that when we go up there but yes the pro v1x has gone further there but with the drivers they went the same distance and you see I'm starting to wonder am I consistent enough for it to even make a difference I don't think I'm alright as well so there's the velocity which is stopped [Music] from there to there and there is the pro v1x [Music] [Music] so they have made a birdie - with the velocity and a bogey for with the pro v1x the more expensive ball so does that make the velocity a better bore than the pro v1x scored - better it scored half on that hole well no but yeah but you see I find this a difficult one because I didn't really know what to expect coming into this video that was a pro v1x it was a good hit lets it velocity down there and see where it is in relation to it then I think we need to do some short game to get to the bones of the difference between these two golf balls so if you wanted to carbon copy drives there they were they could be touching down there at 270 275 one of the big things that Joe the Titleist fitter was trying to get across to me and well to you guys at home when we did this fitting was how little difference in distance the golf ball actually made even the Tour guys who have most consistent ball strikers in the world saw really really small yardage differences throughout the whole range of tire with golf balls so I guess we know that coming out here on the course we're not going to see a massive difference in distance we know it's all going to come down to feel control workability Trust so it turns out we do have a slight difference on the expensive ball titleist pro v1 x [Music] is behind the velocity so these are the last two full shots I'm gonna hit and I've brought them both together we're on a par 5 we're gonna eat 5-iron in let's again see what the difference is see how the feel then we need to do some short game and really decide what the difference is between these two balls that's the velocity on the front edge lovely high ball flight didn't seem to not be spinning enough it felt a little bit hard off the face let's see how the pro v1x field very similar ball fly very similar finishing position I just pulled it a little bit so we're in the greenside bunker not a lot to go out between these two balls off there we have the velocity and there we have the pro v1x I'm just getting some bunker shots so I've just finished on the golf course guys we're gonna do some short game now put a few balls around here tip them around and see how they feel see what the difference is in control feel and spin definite changing feel they're definite changing spin the pro v1x offered me so much more spin and more control similar to the bunker shot there I hit the pro v1x spun up I hit the velocity yes it came out higher definitely launched higher even out the bunker and here on the chipping green but I didn't have the control if we look at the three shots I've just hit there with the two different balls so six shots here we have pro v1x they're a little bit closer this one pro v1x they're a lot closer and this one probably 1 X there so you get my drift so basically guys the difference between these golf balls and that's been a fairly extensive test is short game it's how much control do you want around the Greens how much control do you want with your wedges just like I said at the beginning of the video I'm not a machine I'm going to hit shots differently but I feel like I have struck it pretty well out there today and there's minimal differences in distance minimal differences in dispersion but there are differences in how the balls feel around the green guys I've been jeomjeom missing here who does feel Golf Club if you've enjoyed that video make sure you smash that thumbs up hit that subscribe button if you do so wish follow me on twitter follow me Instagram and I'll see you soon
2. Bridgestone Tour B330-RX Golf Balls
Our Honest Star Rating
Depending on where you stand with the swing speed, this ball delivers.
Bridgestone made this with an aim of making a ball that would provide reduced levels of spin when you tee off while maintaining a high level of control on the green.
To achieve this, they have made the cover out of Urethane that is 20% thinner than their previous models.
The mantle layer is designed to reduce backspin and increase both distance and accuracy. If you are concerned about your balls fluctuating in flight, they have used 330 Dual Dimple Technology to maintain consistency in flight.
It was manufactured in 2015. You can get it in a vibrant yellow colour if you would like to enhance visibility. The outer core offers just the right hardness. They are neither too soft nor too hard. You will get a true measure of distance with each drive.
On the outer layer are some patterns that can be very helpful when you finally get onto the green, especially when it comes to putting.
I would recommend these for anyone within the mid 20s handicap, looking to lower it.
And definitely, if you are a 10 handicap and looking to maintain or improve your game.

AN HONEST REVIEW
hi guys he shirt shields down here at Qwest Golf Academy here at prairie sports village and I'm testing Bridgestone golf balls we've got the B three three zero range we've got three three zero tour we've got the B three 3 0 F diseases meet today it gets even more complicated we've also got 2 B 3 3 0 r x and the b 3 3 0 r XS Wow I mean that is what a ridiculous name to call the golf ball B 3 3 0 I've tried to do some research around why the only thing I managed to kind of come across on their website was the fact that they've claimed it on over 300,000 golf ball testing worldwide so I would imagine a bit of a theme in that because they reckon this is the best golf ball ever that's what they've said on their website best golf ball ever and they're kind of doing a match up against any other brand saying it's this good I'm going to focus my attention on these two golf balls today because they're actually it made the decision quite simple even though we've got four golf balls to choose from there are two golf balls that suit club head speed with driver over a hundred and five miles per hour which I kind of fit that category and then two golf balls the educated for a more mass market of 75% of golfers who have a driver swing speed less than 105 I've come close another point with a better tester I think someone like Rob would test those quite nicely I'll stay tuned for that I want to talk about the feel and the performance of these golf balls first off around the green because like every ball test I've done so far I've done the pro v1 the tp5 the Callaway golf ball the ball the golf balls I've always got to start at the golf at the putting green first always put with the golf balls chip with them pitch with them because if you like the feel of it as an important factor so a couple of months ago now I went over to luminary in Spain and tested these golf balls and this was the feedback I was getting from the B three three zero range I'm going to start with the B three three zero tour which is the black ball I was finding that this had medium soft feel a therm sound when I chips and putted it and it felt firm with very neutral spin so it didn't blow me away it wasn't it wasn't superb for what is the these two golf balls of their premium golf balls challenging the Proby wands and the best golf balls out in the market with the be 3 3 0 s which is branded a little bit more of a spinny golf ball that's where the S comes in I was getting medium soft feel again a clicky noise the sound wasn't particularly great on these two golf balls when pulling and chipping with them but I'm getting good feel and high spin on the wedge shot now at this point I didn't know the S was this highest bid this is just what I was writing down as I was testing these golf balls so I they're the two golf balls I'm going to continue using on GT quad I'm going to get some numbers in a moment I'll talk a little bit about the feel of these two golf balls as well because I was getting with the tour B 3 3 0 r X which is suited for a swing speed with driver less than 105 miles per hour talk about compressions talking about how a swing speed lower than that is going to compress this golf ball better and it will do the other two lines I was getting nice feel soft feel and a medium color sensational sound it wasn't as kind of hard hitting it didn't sound as loud or click it with this one as well I was getting good feeling good spin that was the b33 0rx simple way it's the red one the one with the red number quite simply silver box which is the b33 0 RX s again this is the spinny version for slow swing speeds I was getting the same as above I was like I've let you put the same as above so good feel medium soft feelings not too much not too much noise good field good speed so these two golf balls feel wise I wasn't getting anything different from these two at all I'm going to put these two to bed now because I think to really test these to the maximum I need a swing speed that's less than 105 so I'm going to put those to the bed but they are out in the market they are bores to sue under 105 miles per hour quad speed we now continue our journey with these two we've got the black ball which is the distance boss or the claiming and the blue ball which is the spinny ball numbers on the golf ball represent what color of box these come from and the S is a spinning wall the S is the one that Tiger Woods's being signed to use so he's using the BB B 3 3 0 s ball he's staying with me he's still that good right we get to the golf balls themselves and there is a very unique dimple pattern defined on these golf balls it goes normal dimple but inside the dimple is a micro dimple on every ball of all the B 3 3 0 range the idea around that is all about aerodynamics which is something I have not actually managed to measure or test because trying to find how a golf ball fly through the air or prevent it from wind you've got to play that golf ball a lot and unfortunately not attempt to do that yet maybe down the line I'll do that with all the golf balls but I think we get regarding aerodynamics regarding whether it's a hexagon dimple a circle dimple a deeper dimple a shallower dimple they've tested it on Windtunnel they've tested it under extreme circumstances and each manufacturer seems to be coming up with a different way of making the golf ball more aerodynamic and streamlined so let's continue our journey how I tested the golf balls now I've come back to the Golf Academy test not on GC quad and I hit five golf shots with each ball with a full wedge shot a hundred yards of brand-new tailor-made wedge and then hit full 7-iron shots with a brand-new 7-iron a ping 7-iron and then I hit full drivers five shots again with the Callaway epic driver I picked the best three from each of the shots out the five and then we've come up with the numbers that I'm going to present with you now let's start with the wedge shots first so when I was hitting the wedge shots I was getting the numbers up here on screen the difference for me I couldn't feel any difference I couldn't see any difference in flight level for an identical height we both launched almost identical is the B 3 3 0 s have a higher spin rate than the B 3 3 0 now both have very high spin rate still both have over 10,000 spin rates but the B 3 3 0 are the extra thousand rpm spin rate more on a full wedge shop and I was finding that around the greens as well I was definitely fine in the B 3 3 0 s the blue ball the blue number was definitely a higher spin option definitely I was finding that without question as I moved then into the 7 and this is where now the many golf ball I don't see massive amounts of differences from a 7-iron full shots and a driver four shots I'm really dull you see sometimes a little jumps in speed but that's pretty much it we see very similar patterns but the patterns aren't as extreme this time between the B 3 3 0 and the B 3 3 0 s the SS spinny ball the blue ball I keep reminding that did have a higher spin rate but the both balls almost traveled identical distances there was no difference in flight whatsoever they both were high they both went distance D both got a good flight the both feel exactly the same off the clubface when hitting a stall 7-iron shot so then move into hitting drivers with these two golf balls and again we didn't see a great deal of difference the spin rate was low the ball fight was good they have good distance again this is where I don't see any real value in testing golfers we driver I feel like all of the drivers all of the balls do we're almost identical the same sometimes if you get slightly harder one yet you pick up maybe some ball speed like the Volvic I had over 165 power combat a ball speed I didn't get that with either of the Bridgestone golf balls that are tested these two but for me that's not the biggest deal I've just like a golf ball it's going to have a consistent ball flight to it not particularly super long because generally when you get super long golf ball it doesn't perform around the green it doesn't spin particularly well so across the driver shots we see very similar numbers almost no difference whatsoever on these two golf balls and that's kind of backed up again going back to the box I hate box golf ball boxes the absolutely drive me insane because every golf ball box pretty much says the same what you want to hear high spin long distance all of that jazz interesting on these two golf balls on one of the columns here actually says engineered for tall swings and centered strikes which I was very interested in so here not centered strikes so they're kind of really putting these two golf balls high on the agenda of really being only tall player golf balls elite players or tall players which I think that's a bit of a mistake because I actually think these are good golf balls and they're not going to make a huge difference if they're in the hands of a wrong player if I'm honest with you even if it's swing speed was a bit slow then went through the drawer ability test and then finally I've gotten caught up in half as well as goes to the durability test first okay ten full golf shots with a wedge into the simulator a table cam now people in other reviews when I've done this have said well that's not realistic I know it's not realistic but unless I play to the golf ball without losing it for really two or three rounds of golf I wouldn't be able to put it under the strains and stresses that I am doing with durability tests these two golf balls performed brilliantly in the durability test quite brilliantly the only thing that I saw was scuffing on the paintwork around the Bridgestone and the logo on the side that is literally it there was hardly any scuffing between the two golf balls they have a cover on it that's called spooling up or what we called it split Reds slip res cover now one of the promotional videos they made a statement they said it actually heals itself slip Reds technology allows the golf ball to repair itself minimizing the impact of scarring or abrasions that might occur under normal impact now this is a golf ball I tested before and the durability I can see that it's damaged I can see though it's not the bad bridge damaged I don't see how that heals itself unless maybe let me just try this on abracadabra no no that still doesn't heal itself to actually claim that a golf ball heals itself is quite ridiculous because the golf ball cannot heal itself so a bit of a stupid statement that the actual promotional video on the bridge stolen on the website was horrendous it was so like over the top it just did just drive me insane the adversity pond there so then we put these two golf balls up in half to see what was inside these two golf balls would be three three zero on the bg-30 part sorry gospel and they almost look identical just a different color pattern now what they claimed have made a core that's very large so the core that's inside the golf ball is large on both of these two models you see the slipper as cover you see the first inner kind of almost like squishing with plastic material between the cover and the central core and that's it now there must be a slight difference because I'm definitely seeing the difference being a different feel of the golf ball even though the covers are the same there's got to be some difference within these inner cores and making the spin rate change but but from what I'm actually looking inside and it's hardly any difference whatsoever it's not like one of the three-piece ball and once a four-piece ball they're both three-peat golf balls so as an overview as an overview of the first-ever golf balls I've ever tested from Bridgestone and possibly ever hit from Bridgestone my initial impression is the do incredible job for these two golf balls I just think that's very very good for me they compete with the best golf balls in the market I feel like they're maybe not soft as some of the others I actually feel like the the other two golf balls are a little bit softer the ones that are suited for lower swing speeds I feel like that may have made a little bit of a mistake making that separation between 105 miles per hour of club head speed and less 105 miles per hour record speed because the me a golf ball is not tested on for bed speed with driver that's my personal opinion to me it's all about feel and the performance you get around the green side full shots unless you go for a really hard golf ball there's going to be no huge difference on distances from what I have ever tested or seen the dimpling button is very unusual on stressed on the windy conditions but after combat saw at the time and very interesting I'll get robbed or a slower swing speed golfer to try the be ready for this be 3 3 0 r x and the b 3 3 0 RX s again worst name of the golf balls in the world because it's just not simple it should have made the name and a bit much simpler guys thanks for watching hopefully you enjoyed the video if you have put up thumbs up or comment below what do you think of the whole idea of swing speeds to quality golf ball used I'm not a massive fan of it Bridgestone claimed they've done over 300,000 ball fit sensational of the most information possibly in the world I just don't see that being a massive factor for me is more about green side control and feel around the greens if you new to my channel hit that subscribe button I might be getting some Bridgestone guys and fans coming over to the channel if you are new I do loads of testing loads reviews that test equipment do course videos do instructional videos so hit that subscribe button and it keeps you connected all future content thanks for watching guys stay tuned 20 mods come and that was the Bridgestone Haspel say it one more time Bridgestone be three three zero and be 3 3 0 s easy for me to say
3. Wilson Titanium Ball
Our Honest Star Rating
If in doubt, go with a Wilson.
This is a tried and true brand.
The Wilson Titanium Ball is designed with improving distance at the heart.
It is made up of a two-piece construction that surround a titanium core. The outer cover is made to be sturdy and durable.
What sets this ball apart from others is the titanium bond that is patented and unique to Wilson. It improves the transfer of energy on impact.
This is how you get the most out of every drive.
Maximum energy transfer from the golf club to the titanium core means maximum initial velocity and maximum distance for the ball.
Each pack comes with 18 balls, that’s one for each hole. You can hardly find a ball that will match this one as a practice ball, at the price point.
They are great both for practice or playing. The performance you get with the ball right out of the box was consistent as the ball got a little roughed up on the course.
Perhaps the key feature of this ball is that it is great for long drives as well as for putting.
It is not an easy balance to have. Most balls are either great for the long shorts of the tee. They are geared to give distance and direction.
These would then struggle on the green. The other side is also true. Being able to get both low compression and low spin is incredible.

4. Vice Pro Golf Balls
Our Honest Star Rating
This is not quite fringe, but neither is it quite a mainstream golf ball.
That is not for a lack of merit.
Vice Pro Golf Balls have made their mark in the golfing world.
They have been covered by Golf Monthly, NBC, SI Golf+ and others. Golfer and Producer, Erik Anders Lang highly commended these balls.
Don’t know who that is? Nevermind, let’s move right along.
The urethane outer cover is made up of three pieces. They feature that famous dimple design that is known to offer a stable trajectory to your shots.
Theirs is in the form of large 318 dimples. It helps reduce air resistance. Ensuring that your ball has more glide through the air.
You will also be pleased to know that your swing speed will bear fruit. It is optimised for flight and increased distance.
The HESC (High Energy Speed Core) ensures that you get more ball speed off the tee. It is made with the medium to high swing speed player in mind.
There is an interesting contrast between resistance and softness that is embedded into cast urethane that makes up the outer layer.
For those who will be playing in the sun, like we all wish to, the BJ13 coating makes for an incredible UV resistance.
The S2TG technology gives you great control on the green. It also delivers backspin and a smooth feel that makes putting that little bit easier.
While we are still discussing putting, the Vice Pro Golf ball has a “K.I.L” or Keep In Line for putting.
It is there to act as a visual guide from the green to the hole.

5. Callaway Golf Superhot Bold Matte Golf Balls
Our Honest Star Rating
Some will go as far as saying that it is not a complete list of golf balls if Callaway is not included.
We are not jumping on that bandwagon just yet.
What we did do was test all 5 Callaway balls in this range. There are two that are sold as being tour performers.
They did not quite cut it, in comparison to this one.
Let’s look at why.
This golf ball is built with distance in mind. It offers a moderate feel. Balls that are too soft tend to lose you some distance on your shots. If they are too hard, the results are the same.
Moderate balls are bang in the middle. They provide high forgiveness per shot. The flight is also straight, which helps if you are struggling with keeping the drive on the green.
You will know that we love ionomer cover material. The aerodynamic technology on this is such that there is a lower drag for increased lift.
This means you have a lot more flight, keeping the ball in the air longer, therefore, getting you more distance.
Once you are on the green, you will benefit from the increased ball control and spin. Putting becomes that little bit easier.
We have also reviewed the Best Golf Balls In Cold Weather, so check them out as well.
AN HONEST REVIEW
hi I'm Nate from Callaway golf here to tell you about some brand-new golf balls from Callaway I'm talking about super hot bolt a lot of reasons why golfers should be excited about bolt the first is they obviously look great the slick matte yellow red and orange finishes really stand out and my guess is you probably won't even have to mark your ball second is they come in packs of fifteen that's three more golf balls for your back pocket or your playing partner or whoever else is having a little bit of trouble off the tee and did I mention the outstanding technology the aerodynamic design is built for low drag and optimal lift that keeps the ball in the air longer with a strong flight you'll notice increased short game spin and control thanks to a three-piece construction and a soft cover there long they feel amazing and they look great super hot bowled from Callaway try them today [Music]
WARNING - ONE TO AVOID
Nitro Maximum Distance Golf Ball
At 10 handicap, we know that you have encountered your fair share of pretenders.
The looks can be deceiving.
These are lovely looking golf balls, with vibrant colour.
They are easy to spot, offering you that visibility that every golfer needs. Then the plot takes a massive twist...
I will start by mentioning that for the price that these golf balls are sold for, you should not expect much.
That being said, no one should see a golf ball split into two when you strike it. This has been our experience with this ball. We have also found a lot of other golfers who share the same issue.
It is a funny thing to watch a golf ball “explode” in flight, so perhaps there is some comedic value to that.
Especially when you consider that the manufacturer describes the balls as being “virtually indestructible”.
It is anything but… I think that any manufacturer making such a statement should be able to back it up with a product that lives up to the hype. Perhaps our definitions of the word indestructible are not the same.
In my book, half a golf ball is a destroyed ball.
Avoid this golf ball like the plague!
If your swing speed is above 70, leave this ball alone.
You will have shattered pieces to carry off the golf course. It is a shame that Nitro didn’t deliver on this occasion.
Welcome To The 10 Handicap Club
At handicap 10, you are on the brink of greatness! Congratulations.
You probably know that there are not a lot of people who reach a point in their game where they have a single figure handicap.
Those are somewhat rare! Your golfing prowess and goals will be different from others. I don’t know any 10 handicap golfer who doesn’t have dreams of taking it to the big league.
We all start to imagine what it would be like to drive a ball across Augusta.
The only way you’d ever get there is by continuing to challenge yourself. What more can you do?
The golf ball that you use is a key feature of the development of your golfing game. The wrong ball can be the architect of regression in your game. Having the right ball can also be the architect of progression in your game.

Golf ball Buyer’s Guide for 10 Handicap
Whether you are satisfied with your handicap or looking to press forward into a single figure handicap, having the right golf ball goes a long way. At times you may find yourself reaching a plateau in your growth. The ball that you have been using along the way may no longer be the one to take your game to the next level.
Our buyer’s guide is written to equip you with the information that you need to be able to pick the ideal golf ball for you. We have made it much easier by presenting you with 5 great picks as well as one that you can avoid. The detail that we have put into each review will also come in handy for giving you an idea of what you should look out for.
Durability can be a weird one here. Having the right golf ball is a great feeling. So, seeing it fall apart is such an anti-climax. Having played golf for a while you will know that none of these balls will last forever. It is difficult to gauge what the ideal level of durability is. At the very minimum, you want golf balls that will last the course.
If they last the course, you may then consider what that would mean for you when it comes to costs. It will be a trade-off between cost and performance. I believe that if I found an incredible set of golf balls that I play well with and would only last the course, I would be willing to take them on. They would perhaps be used for special events if the cost was not sustainable long term.
Most beginners require some form of assistance when it comes to ball control. As you handicap gets to 10 and the single figures, you want to take back some of that control. This will mean using balls that may be less forgiving of shots. That means if your swing is not quite right, the destination of your ball will reflect it.
If you are not aware, golf ball control is one’s ability to manipulate a ball to achieve the results that they desire. This is relevant in various parts of any golf course. Once you are on the green you need more ball control. It is at this point where distance no longer matters. The focus turns towards the direction and accuracy aspects of the game. When seeking to direct the ball into the hole, guess what you need? You need more ball control.
Being able to get just the right amount of spin on a ball will come in handy.
Your Golfing Game
The final aspect to consider when choosing your ball is your own golfing game. This gives you a unique blank canvas that you can use to guide your choice. Forget what everyone else is playing with or what golf ball they are using. You want to find a golf ball that is in tune with your game and the goals that you have.
If you are satisfied with the level that you are playing at, you may not necessarily desire the same golf ball as someone that is looking to improve their game.
Where improving your game is concerned, you may want to have a ball that offers you good performance and presents you with all the possible challenges. This is to reiterate the importance of ball control.
From a beginner’s perspective, one would not need to have much ball control. In fact, they may prefer it to be the opposite. The less dependent that they are on their own skills the better. This is not a place that fosters much growth and improvement of your game.
At a 10 handicap, you know enough of your game to be able to control the ball when you strike it.
We would like to believe that your expectations have been met and that your questions have been answered. There are two aspects to this article, the reviews of all 5 of our golf balls and the buyer’s guide. Each of these two pieces is necessary for making sure that we deliver the greatest value to our readers.
The reviews are written to provide you with some insight into what you can expect from each ball. We look at the best and worst attributes. Both of these are important for a buyer to make an informed decision.
On the other hand, we also have the buyer’s guide. This is where we dive into some of the specific things that we considered when looking at each golf ball.
Allow yourself the time to get through all the information provided. Consider each ball on its own merit. Our top pick does not have to be your top pick. There are differences in the things that we are after even when playing at the same level.
The ball that is suitable for you may not even be on this list. Our hope is that you can use the buyer’s guide as a yardstick to measure any balls that you may be considering.
As far as pricing is concerned, there is not a massive difference between any of the recommended golf balls on our list.
The best thing to do is to ignore the price and pick a golf ball that is suitable for you based on its attributes.
If we are to be truly honest, golf balls are quite affordable, so take a chance if you have to. You may be able to unearth an incredible ball.
We have also added on the ball to avoid. It comes in at the lowest level of the pricing point. This is a tell tale sign in some cases. We are not saying that we should discount all golf balls based on low pricing.
It is, however, more likely that the cheaper ones offer much less quality and durability.
What we have considered in our picks include:
- How much it affects your distance.
- Overall ball control on and off the green.
- Durability. Can it take high swing speed?
- Performance off the tee.
- How well it does for putting.
These are the 5 key factors that we considered when picking our top 5 golf balls. We did look at other things. However, all of it boils down to these factors. Our goal is to make sure that with this guide takes you from a position where you do not know anything about golf balls, to a point where you can pick the right one for yourself. We also want it to go as far as helping guide non-golfers pick gifts for their golfing friend or spouse.
