The PGA Championship. A Celebration of golfs major championships

The PGA Championship is one of the four major championships and is hosted by the Pro Golfers Association of America. The first PGA Championship was played around 100 years ago in 1916 at Siwonoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York and was won by up and coming golf star Jim Barnes.

The tournament hit a bit of a snag the next to years being obsolete until 1919 when Jim Barnes successfully defended his title.

World War I was the reason the 1917 & 1918 tournaments weren’t held. War would punish the tournament once more in 1943 due to World War II.
