[Music] this is the new Callaway rogue iron and this is my full review of this new iron set callaway claim they feature the 360 face cup technology and the variable face thickness to keep ball speed hot off off-centered hits urethane microspheres which is what they're claiming is giving you less vibrations so even though this is a power club it's not supposed to feel or sound like the power club we're gonna see faster the truth and also they've got more tungsten waiting to help precisely locate the center of gravity lower to give more forgiveness and that's where Callaway a target into these irons for forgiveness distance they're also bringing out rogue Pro which I will test it on the channel and they're also bringing out rogue X which are what Callaway claiming or the apologetically long just by cranking the loss effectively so I've had the for the seven and the pitching wedge with me for the last few weeks I have tested them on GC quad indoor hit loads of different shots to give you all the data and I've also taken these clubs out on the golf course to give you a real-life situation to see how they perform on the course as well I'm also going to answer your questions from the first look first hit video around the rogue ions I'm gonna give my final summary of the new Callaway rogue ions for 2018 [Music] okay so what have we got with the rogue ions as I mentioned we've got forgiveness aplenty that's where Callaway trial position these ions for the more may be higher to mid handicapper who wants distance and wants forgiveness so they featured this 360 face cook technology which I've had for a while the face is giving you more forgiveness it's just what the claim in and these little microspheres is you thorium microspheres behind the head which are apparently a way you've been able to give a real soft feel even though this club is cast I'm interested to see if that is going to be the case I apologize in advance about the quality of the close-ups these are the conditions Callaway sent these clubs to me they don't look very good at all they're quite scratch that's not our test innocent I've filmed the close-ups as soon as it came out of the box but they're pretty damaged in the first instance which is a real shame and so I jumped on GC quad I hit probably ones with the clubs give me some idea on laughs so the 7-iron sits at 30 degrees of loft which is on the strong side of the spectrum the four and a half is twenty point five degrees of loft and the pitching wedge is in 44 degrees of loft so on the strong side compared to most brands really stay tuned to the Callaway rogue X I am gonna review that because that is stupidly strong lofted let's start off with a 7-iron data so I hit loads of shots and I was getting these numbers from the Callaway 7-iron I was average carrying the ball 178 yards she's pretty decent carry distance for a strong 7-iron and I was getting Swing rates quite a low what felt like quite a damaging number lower than 5,000 rpm the ball speed was hot 120 miles per hour that was pretty decent ball speed and I was getting some decent flight so even for the 7-iron I didn't seem like it was going that low even though the spin was low the peak height was 31 yards up in the air and the ball is coming down at a 45 degree angle so I didn't have any massive concerns when testing on GC quad that the ball wouldn't stop and we'll see if that was the case out on the golf course as well so let's go into the 4i next this is twenty point five degrees of loft and my average carry distance for the four was 207 yards of average carry distance I was getting ball speeds of nearly 134 miles per hour which is really good for a 4-iron from when I've test them in the past the spin rate for me was a little bit on the low side at 3 you know 3 2 and if I'm honest the distance was maybe not as maximum a little like it to have been I did hit some low Healey shots which still got decent total distance by expected a total distance maybe to me knocking on the door near for me for the 215 yards of carry distance I didn't hit every single one of them pure but ever man average numbers okay so moving into pitching wedge next at 44 degrees of loft I was carrying the ball 142 yards on average 34 peak height of yards and then 50 descent angle even though the spin was still really low at only seven and a half thousand rpm the way that ball was flying the way that the ball was going through the air and the high I didn't really feel like the ball was I felt the ball was still gonna stop pretty quickly I was gonna see if that wasn't gonna be the case on the course feel wise I struggled to see any real difference from these microspheres behind the head for me they still felt pretty clicky pretty loud not the best feeling irons I hit but the kind of it's interesting how they're trying to experiment with different fields and different sounds by not always changing the material that they're making the club out of all the forging material that made the iron out of either this is more of a different approach to it which I admire but for me I didn't see that much of a difference compared to any other callaway i enough hit in this category in the past so those numbers at the moment were good you know it wasn't massively offended by him at all they kind of hit the right criteria for the lofts I didn't expect anything much different the one thing I just did briefly was how to look at some gapping different differences that maybe we might start to see and I found that the long end of the spectrum was only maybe 9 to 10 yards of difference of carrier if I was to add a 5 and a 6 iron in there as a rough average and I'm from the 7-iron down I've seen more of a 12-yard gapping differences so that might cause a problem from some golfers in the way that they got their irons and whether they may move into some more hybrids etc into the long clubs that might make a better alternative than the or iron certainly in this kind of category of iron as well so dicen so far I'm the indoor testing on GC quad to come out in the golf course I went over to West likes and I hit loads of different shots out on the course I tested the for the seven I'm the picture wedge out there different lies different conditions to see how they all featured so one of the first holes I hit him on this was a little dogleg to the right I hit a weak fade he kind of 4-iron it went into right rough but it was okay it wasn't that damaging but it was an off centered here and then the next shot I hit off that saying see with the so far I absolutely knotted it straight down my target lying great for a great distance into the prime location I chipped a couple of wedges into that next green one from the deep roof which actually did pretty well it went up to the moon it went so high it was unreal I was a cheap one in there as well with the second ball and it actually both landed almost perfectly on the green both stopped quickly mainly because of the height rather than any spin characteristics Wausau they were just going up to space and the pitching wedge kind of looks quite spoon shaped and gives you that feeling you're gonna get the ball really high up in the air with that pitching wedge the next hole that was a bit too close to the green to really test a 7-iron so what I decided to do is that trying to come play some bump and run shots in there so trying to control the power because this is sometimes an issue with power irons is how can you control them and if I'm honest I actually played them quite nicely in there they still didn't feel like they gave me a lot of feel or response which is what I was seen inside but the shot start managed to manipulate were pretty good and in the final hole I hit some more irons down the off the tee shot against or saw some really good results and then I hit some seven irons into the green to see if they would stop so I was hitting them off the fairway into the green and you can see a couple of shots here London into the green stopping with no difficulties at all and that really for me is all down to that height when I was hitting the 7-iron I was looking at the flight from the loft was telling me one thing that was expecting to see a flight that was lower but when I actually looked up and saw the ball fly they were all way higher than what I expected and because of that they landed really soft and actually stuck on the green nicely so uncle's testing I saw similar characteristics from a feel standpoint I still felt though quite clicky quite hard I wasn't really getting a load of information around that kind of you terrain microspheres behind the face but what I was seeing was good power off the tee with the long irons I've seen some great wedge shots and to be fair the saturnine stocked into the green as well so not not anything wrong with the irons if I'm honest they kind of did what they needed to do round the golf course [Music] so let's answer some of the questions now coming in from the first look first hit one of the big questions was where did he sit in relying too epic ions and that's a really interesting question because the driver the rogue driver from what Callaway claiming is not replaced in the epic driver which I seem for me is a little bit of a marketing kind of spiel in the way that they're saying no epic guys that people have just brought epic you're okay you drivers not redundant yet but we're bringing out rogue and it's better and it's faster and it's longer you know it it kind of that weird sense that the epic guys going is this right or is it am I getting kind of is there a new products out there what kind of a claim in that product still remains in the marketplace and from what I understand is the same story with the ions now the epic ions was a massive talking point last year because they went high-end price wise $2,000 minimum price for the epic ions and there was a lot of hoo-ha around the ions and for me actually when I tested them I really like the epic ions I didn't massive like the price tag but certainly the feel on some of the ions were superb looks and finish was exceptional now you compare that to rogue and for me these two products sit in a completely different marketplace not so much on performance because I would say there's similar characteristics in performance but for me feel and price that's where they separate the epic ions and the rogue ion let me just grab an epic ayat so when I look at the finish of these two ions for me the finish is far greater with the epic iron and for me the feel was much nicer with the epic kind too now what you've got to bear in mind this is nearly double the price so the rogue iron set is you're not going to get a lot of change out of a thousand dollars or a thousand pounds you're not gonna get a lot of a change for a seven eight iron set but these bad boys you're not getting a set of these for less than $2,000 certainly when they first came out so you could get two sets of iron's for the rogue you get one here at home and you can get one potentially a holiday home or a leave them at the golf club for the same price as you would get an epic irons bought a feel is no important and looks and finishes super important and let's be honest if you've got the price to pay for the epic ions I think many more golfers potentially would go for that you put these two ions in the same price category category and for me it's no contest epic wins every single day okay so the summary the question I've been asking in the latest reviews is what I put these clubs in my bag for me they don't fit into my kind of criteria and for me they're a little bit too hard a little bit too powerful so the answer would be no however I do actually quite like him I actually think apart from maybe the feel which they've still not quite got right in this power iron in my opinion I think the numbers were great I think the forgiveness levels of God I felt very impressed with how they perform out in the golf course I wasn't wasn't didn't allow me at all that these clubs would not work on the golf course I think they've just got this slight fear that if they start to go a little bit stronger than this kind of realm of 7-iron be thirty degrees then you start to get into the wrong kind of category it turns into a 5-iron which is where they've gone down with rogue X and stay tuned to the channel because I will actually test those and stay tuned to the channel don't forget to subscribe hit that subscribe button like the video if you enjoyed the video and comment down below but for me these ions theocratic criteria they are for a slightly middle to higher handicap a golfer who maybes not so much bothered about feel they like the look of it and they just want a club that performs that's where these iron sit for me these irons what maybe not massively different to what they've brought out in the past guys thanks watching hope you enjoyed the video if you did like I said before smash that like button stay tuned to the channel by subscribing it's free to do and if you hit the icon bell it keeps you connected every time I release the video you get notified so you don't miss a single video stay tuned lots more to come I've got the Callaway rogue prions coming soon and I've also got the Callaway rogue X ions I'm excited about testing those because we're talking sub 28 degree 7-iron loft yeah I said it thanks for watching guys they chewed lots more to come stay tuned to the next our old pro irons you

right guys Marco Sudhir we've done at talking golf clap hello Daniel hello everybody rogue iron so not the protis down the road we're going to test this we've got indoor date or outside it's a bit drizzly bit cold should be fun it's the road one so I did there he's hot uni doesn't rogue one get that not with it you know I'm come on granddad [Music] we're at 175 180 ow okay Sian when just off the right near the green there's the green how do you think it looks it looks nice very Callaway ish okay is it big as its small I would say it's quite big top-line yeah very much like the old I used to have a set of the old Callaway X 16s it looks like the non-pro version of that to a degree so yeah I thought it was a nice Club used it for a while nearest the green here's the dream that's good for length that felt superb did it really really nice it was a bit echoey but I just felt lovely really really nice so we get off set decent amount medium top-line medium so it's 360 cut face design so we've got the outside of the club all cutaway which Callaway have used for a while now that's there to reposition way and try and make the face as friendly kind of across every part of the face I like the to line up lines at the bottom sort of two score lines I like white lines at the bottom it helps my students understand where club faces are trying to point that kind of idea x.18 absolutely 16 whatever I agree down it's kind of area up there and show you those but down is definitely closer I caught that on a tote average maybe did okay considering how much I caught it out the tote we all have to hit more to see exactly how it feels I do quite like the way it looks what up there get variable face thickness on these as well again trying to control the kind of power across the face my shot did pretty good for a toe there how much better it would do for my plates I think there's a lot of information ideas out there that people think that was loads better but saying that I that did pretty good considering out bad I hit that and that's what these are trying to do I guess we get tungsten weight in this one as well and I think the tongues the way is probably varying for optimal flight but basically tungsten weight is there as they always say to try not to Mike launches because you got to be careful with these cuts that the wedges aren't just shooting into all wit with the narcos because they are all about trying to push the button yeah yeah we captured some indoor dator as well it's gonna check that out [Music] so I'm carrying it 180 uhaah 6-iron Dan carrying one eight two spinning for three sit down for five for me so interesting you actually got it spinning no I know but probably just on one particular shot because I caught it wrong right off the top yeah absolutely launching a 17 16 for Dan's and high launching low spinning bumbles long balls it's a power iron it it's not bad on the spin to be honest I have to finish to get it manageable but it's good yeah yeah let's get out and see if we can actually hold and get in agree yeah he's top down duck face design you know I love it so we're gonna play this hole to longish par-4 but it's downwind for two full rounds or maybe 469 and that was a top get out there alright feel nervous now I said love @oe 1 but it's actually doing quite Wow considering where I'm hanging there and that feels quite nice I'm surprised I mean the numbers of what you expect from the indoor there you know they're low spinning their power bat so lower lofted low spinning ions that fell all right off the face considering where I hit it I like the shape of the 4 iron again bit of offset medium top-line but it's it's what I want to look at in Nice kind of hard of the hit iron I want the help sure ions will come too maybe not so sure we don't yet dad yeah but someone that's variable face thickness but I'm not sure what part of the face and the variability you early morning Sunday morning shot you've got that 3 iron a little bit thin what did you think about the fraülein looks before topping it though I quite like the way it looks as a power back it is like I said it's it's very similar to that hole X 18 or yeah iron I think I think they've kept hold of that Sun and they look a bit to say yeah I agree but a lot of people like those ions yeah good-looking iron it's a stay bright the fairway you missed it but you reached it sounds about 220 yards out the game is near it's the middle of the green into because this one's actually on temporary so we're not going for the flag you might see fluttering kind of over here you never turned it I mean I have any club you would want to hear if you're going to hit it that hard and try and shape it yeah that's when looking down or something like that that is a real bonus yeah absolutely that even though I don't think I could have got there I felt looking down at that that I could and this is what I think's interesting because people would always call these less workable you could argue they're more because you can get more out of this when you need it as it might go higher and it might go further I agree so I think that term is a marketing term that I've tried challenging for years you had no problem shaping that even though that's having a heel-toe weight Kevin back friendly friendly power back yeah she felt really quite nice that time still not on the green now so I just need to get it anywhere near this green to win yeah they go back to all square all right calm down bro so I'm gonna hit the six I'm from the rough slightly back again this is where any added help tight inferior he is a good thing so I've got this song written down and I'm probably still it's a urethane microsphere for phenomenal sound and feel so basically you've got this rubber pad almost urethane yeah what they're trying to do is make it less clicky yeah and it kind of isn't that clicky is it that's all preference though isn't it if you think about it like six I'd anywhere near the middle of the green that's a good shot that's all natural square baby rogue one there it is look at that bitch mother I think it hit halfway up the tree and drop straight now surely we need to film him in a wedge through there what do you think of the shape of that yeah this starts to get a bit extreme for my liking it gets very rounded off the off the coming down off the neck yeah onto the face which obviously slightly offset and very round at the top here big top edge yes thing no no I miss a definite no for that even though we'll see how we get on from this light might be a yes oh can I get it through dan is reviewing this club you haven't gotten through whether I got the height Oh is that one up to me now some square diving a 4-iron 6-iron just onto the front here like I'd be quite happy with this I think an interesting point is I would never play this hole like this because obviously I'm happy with my driver but for instance when I film with James on those anyone who saw my Cunha trip his driver was a bit everywhere he used the four iron off the tee so this is where stronger lofted longer irons as much help as possible but I would give him this set of clubs and then just question the short irons if he needs them when she I seriously did in that set of videos but I mean if you're someone who hits a four iron off a te these and other companies you know power bats kind of make a bit of sense tonight right we're going to finish with two wedges down okay so we're going to go what's this hundred yards were playing about 120 India wind which this kind of Club I think is made for and then we're going to go to like 60 yards okay yeah because my worry always with the power bats obviously is the gapping when you go up and down and how easy is this to actually not make powerful because a wedge and 9-iron they actively you need me out of here the distance that you get inside and launch Connors but then you need to feel distance as well can we do it let's you have no idea if I'm gonna draw this or whatever it's got me all of it thank you I'll plenty to know into women hit it like my hundred and twenty yard shot Espen I that's not a bad shot we'll show the results of that in a minute so we're now 70 yards we'll show you the results of those in a second and this is my big scare when it comes to low lofted power cuts from any manufacturer I just think sometimes people don't give enough respect not only in their gang but when they're purchasing to realizing that you've got to gain clubs into the wind I would want to hit a lot you know a less lofted Club here to keep it down but I wanna control distance sometimes these things just fly low spin you get power you get knuckle balls when you don't need them when you're hitting them a bit softer and that distance control ways it's just sacrifice one of the biggest things I've learned from coaching myself is people think of dispersion so much of left and right they never think short long enough I'm also not a massive fan of the shape of the wedge it's round it's like a big shove over we have this discussion as we walk down here how many amateurs in this bracket actually care what their wedge looks like maybe post comments down below and let me know I know through my experience of fitting and teaching lots kind of don't care get left let's get down chart that isn't it easy nice okay let's get up yeah everyone what's happened with that okay he's one I'm quite like this so this one is my that's your little pitch little pitchy one so I'm quite impressed I'm nervous of controlling distance yeah I've obviously managed to do it me on the other hand well you have managed distance it's on the green it's not that but it's a little low but you could do that quite easily with your club so maybe we're talking more what we fear what we bring then actual fact which is where more tests would need to be done absolutely and it's for those shots as you said it one renowned you know you'd almost have to relearn yes how to play with them because of how much spin how consistent are they gonna play maybe relearn how to trust as well because I didn't trust but I've hit those shots pretty much pin ice so it's what I'm bringing more than what is actually happening I've tried to ignore the club and just play it how I would play it yeah and yes yeah it has it was a good feel good and then your other one which is down here again for distance I mean it landed like he really okay it would have been level with mine it's literally I've won one on distance and both of it on Direction left to right face the path Calloway any of the manufactures can't control my face of the past absolute that's me not the club yeah they're decent I wouldn't say there anything new no that they're relaunching them into a degree I think it looks wise but as they go go and try them let me know what you think the low-spin is still something I like to explain to all because just because it's a 7-iron going further that doesn't mean you're going to hit it any straighter cuz deep pain will always rule and doesn't matter how much I make this point there are still people who just cannot get their heads around this so I will keep trying yeah just drop in spin off the club and launching it higher definitely works on a launch one of that has its gaming issues but we've proven there may be today a lot proving because one text little test but you can override those issues of skill as well let's go down below would you try and will not let me know as always watching [Music]
Callaway Rogue Irons Review
Video Transcription
[Music] my gosh a smithy Dannenberg girlfriend in Suffolk and today I've got the Callaway rogue Owens now there's a family of rogue vines to be released I've got standard I have the pro and I've got the X the X is an interesting one who gets that one later this is just squeeze the standard video for the standard rope iron now okay when it comes this is six time so when it comes to the loft is 26 degrees so it's getting a fraction stronger than obviously normal because nowadays what is the loft or a six on when it comes to the technology in the head though Callaway I've gone mental when it comes to the technology in this head how they've designed this now I've been looking at all the media bits in piece when it comes side of this club and the level of research and development they've got into an iron is mental 360 Cup face which means basically what they've got this head when they design and make this head they make it in two parts I mean the body with the hosel and basic body of the club and in the face so when they make in the face independently they can obviously design a 360 cup face they can also put the vft the variable face thickness so when they're designing this they necessarily through play a test and etc they've realized that when you miss the middle generally people miss Lowe and Haley and low and Toey and around their area so the obviously making this golf club as forgiving as possible when it comes to those kind of ideas with a variable face thickness now the interesting bit for the techie guys this is kind of a hollow hit but when you make a hollow head and the 360 cup face which Calloway saying is the most springy one yet and right to the legal limit of 0.8 3 bounciness coefficient restitution trampoline effect it makes a very interesting not very nice noise now for me as I just sort of drop another persons or manufacturer's name lease one of the club the ping Jie the max that one that when a woman's little cone on it made like a hybrid noise now to me I hated that noise other people liked it I hated it now the problem is were making a face very thin making it very explosive as it makes a somewhat seems an unpleasant noise we're more forgings are a softer noise which people like more desirable noise so you have to fill it with something so in comes urethane in comes foaming come all the ideas that you can put into a hollow head design to make it feel nicer even though it's explosive the problem of that happens as soon as you stick anything inside that if it's a solid or a liquid and it fills the cavity as soon as you hit the ball hips to face the face wants to flex but it can't go anywhere because I'll see there's stuff in the void it's trying to dampen the noise so what can I have done research and development guys gone crazy they've got the urethane which is softer than do we find on when they're chrome soft balls but they've filled it with tiny tiny air pockets micro or holes now it's okay the cost of developing these things might be crazy but it allows them to be absolutely obviously hit the golf ball face spring and the urethane to give so you get the springy face but then you don't get the horrendously hybrid noise cracking good idea does it work we'll see right also for this we've got the little tungsten if you look at the back of the sole now it's a medium thick sole design it's not massive it's not super chunky you want super chunky you go into the rogue X we'll get into that one later on but they've got this tungsten little milled tungsten in there which there'd is saying they can design it that they can obviously pull CG far back and make it more forgiving now I'm not a great fan of adding tungsten to clubs other manufacturers have done it and I feel in those who spoil the feel of it slightly but that's only my opinion it'd be interesting to see if by putting a 6-iron at 26 degrees wherever they can still keep the launch now they're saying they have now we're gonna be hitting range balls initially this is just to give you an idea the sound the feel the fly of what I'm with what I'm seeing what I'm expecting to see and then we'll go into necessarily how performs with a premium ball so how you guys are going to be hitting this hopefully out on the course will this club suit you will this be the club that you want to be putting in your bag remember this one it replaces the steel head I believe the CLL XR so it'd be an interesting right little bit of offset nothing too ugly when it comes to that and it's got a medium to thick top-line although not super thick or get into the rogue X later ahem this is it one is hit this one site and let's see if we can fill with a dump the face I'll tell you what on I won't have that one back one to five full-speed 13 for launch range ball it will launch yep said it before six and a half spin hmm okay 6500 spin and going up at twenty eight point one peak height that was decent I'll pick up there's range ball 175 and bang on yeah 175 is a long way for range ball mm-hmm although sound wise feel wise strike wise it was higher pitch than what I'm used to bearing my guys aren't playing forged clubs sigh me I'm expecting that yeah but actually it wasn't bad be interesting to see if I can catch this one a little bit low here they all notary to see if that extra forgiveness they said with design in 360 cut lease see if it make a difference or not oh yeah I quite like it got little bit right one to 212 degrees launched little baby fade on that one six to call it fraction low on the face and then and then one seven one two point I mean it was okay it was at Target I think quite go so far but I didn't strike it perfectly I think I liked it I don't really like game improvement clubs normally one of the things that the blade length isn't too big so I'm not a great fan of having clubs we just got massive blade lengths it feels like I'm swinging a bucket on a broomstick now these are with the family of row guides we'll go into this one as we go into the other ones but they're trying to this is frankly longer a lot longer shaft at I'm used to a few guys you want to know what I've got in here got an XP 95 are 300 their standard stock shaft you guys that subscribe to me for well no I'm not some shaft sensitive set has made a difference but some let's go here another two more go and then we'll hit some real ones tell you what that's not bad at all one two three ball speed 14 to launch tiny out to the right six one spin one seventy three five three six one I'm starting to get a bit worried for me now they're going well they're going very well and actually are quite like the feel so Callaway well done you actually have made a game improvement iron which feels half decent and I'm starting able worried about spin for me now bear in mind I I'm not a massive spin player so I am a bit sensitive when it comes to if clubs starts spinning a bit too low I start getting the wrong flight last one and we'll go hit some real ones yeah quite like that quite like that Elijah Lee once you're four balls be 13 launch I mean it's consistent six three spin 173 one right I like this I do like it my only issue would be what it's going to be like when we get to a gaming city or a I'm gonna go hit some now with my gamble Vice Pro on GT to HMT to see how a premium ball works with this one rather than just the range balls because at the moment I actually courage and how is encouraged how it feels it feels lovely I won't know until we get some real balls let's go hit some real balls and find out okay now I've hit a bunch of shots using my gamble vise pray with the Callaway rogue standard iron and interesting data now it's 26 degrees it's a standard row guide so it is strong but it's not mega strong if you want mega strong wait for the rogue X review let me come in soon now hit a bunch of shots anyway now I've got one of them greyed out the reason why I've got them greyed out is because if you look on the club data I've got all the information on Club data there but for some reason GC to HMT the HMT part didn't quite catch all the information on there so rather than including that in the HMT part of the data I'll grade it out if we just enable it for the moment so we can actually see what happens when it comes to the GC - that actually the proper just ball data average ball speed of one to eight quite healthy shall we say average loss of fifteen one so even though it's 26 degrees it's still launched and actually quite well it's not kind of launching the same as what I normally launch my six I'm at the end of my six signs like five degrees also weaker than the road standard so you can see but even though it's five degrees weak here you can see it's launching a fifteen one and that's all that tungsten all that CG right down low keeping that ball launching up in the air tiny little draw-off a target but not bad at all really on average four four six seven so for our thousand spin that is my only issue because it's not spinning a lot now I am a mid profile spin player so I'm not necessarily low low spin but I'm not high spin and the problem with this is if I was just to take this as a six I so if this was going sick scientist ins stand the sick scientist ins and it was spinning at four and a half thousand rpm peak and hired nearly thirty two going down at 44 degrees and one nine one well not the one ninety nine normal six are in distance I'd say okay you've nearly got 45 degrees two cent angle which is a 6-iron which is kinda way you'd want to be yet to give you some kind of a idea of control when it comes to green the problem is it's spinning at four and a half thousand rpm so it's not a lot of real spin on it so you're gonna get a little bit instant angle but it's not a lot of spin is to have attempting to roll on so lose a little bit of control when it hits the green but it's not going to stand six scientists it's going 191 yards carry well okay it is 27 or 26 degrees so it is stronger but 191 and an average of four point three yards left but you can see there with my all my strikes all my hits left them all in there some good some but I'm not a robot I am human so I've added them in there what I will do I will just pop over to the club data but I've disabled that top one because obviously when it comes to the club data um if why don't disable it will mess up the numbers average clobbered speed 96 miles an hour attack angle down four degrees four point six degrees I am it's the interesting bit I my club path has come on average one point six from the inside my face is actually closed a path why four degrees so this should start let go left on a normal fit but these clubs I've got are straight from Callaway they're straight from Callaway's demonstration media site so they're not custom fit for me the problem with that is that obviously I am an upright player when it comes to my lying goals and depending on what my manufacturer and what their standards are for lying or one length etc it can have a different amount of whether I need however many degrees up right so these are standards they're my lie angle there is four degrees down so instantly they don't necessarily fit in that sense so the loft is pointing right even though I should be like really going left with ease I'm only averaged what was the flight on there four point four left so you can see when you guys get Custom Fit how much difference just where the loft is pointing because of lye can making a difference on where the shots are going but I'm actually quite impressed Reich 5 mil 2-0 mil low and if I go over all the strikes you can then see there that my grouping when it comes to the standard rogue iron is it's not that bad at all it does wander and I struggle when it comes to bigger heads that's the only thing because it's a bigger head I struggle with focusing my mind to hit it big bang on middle when I've got a small blade when I've got a tiny little thing like Callaway's apex MV that's such a tiny blade length it focuses my mind on absolute purity of strike when I've got a bigger club it's like a battering ram if you want a battering ram you'll see the rogue X video later on but I do get a little bit lacks and that's being honest I don't concentrate probably as much they should do because it's a big club head it's more forgiving and you can kind of hit it nearly anywhere on the face and it will still perform quite well but yeah I am quite impressed with the club I'm very impressed with the sound it makes because of the aggressive design and explosive of that you can really feel that they feel beat you get that perception of the ball just firing off the face but you don't get that same crack that you would normally get from a proper game improvement iron II do actually get some feel from it so from the research and development side of things it's worked well could I use them I'm not sure I could probably I don't know it's just too big for me personally but if you're in the market for a game improvement iron that you want to go a certain distance you want the potential to hit it's obviously more distance more height high-spin players another option to go to because I'll see this generates Frankie Louis spins because of obviously the design of the heads etc but it's a very very well performing Club 191 yards carry from six iron is up to one nine seven when I absolutely rip it that's not bad down 289 187 is so wait six two one nine seven eleven yards in it that's not bad or so ever anyway if you liked the video click the like button below if you didn't like it for any reason don't just dislike put a comment below as to why didn't like the video and how I could change the videos around the content arounds so you would and won't blow anyway with whatever you'd like and by the side of me I'll stick it over here somewhere that's the subscribe button if you could subscribe that allows me to do more this content allows me to give my own ideas and thoughts on how it performs how it feels what kind of market it would suit as you if you're in the market for a game improvement iron then this definitely one's one to try give it a go so I hope you liked it and we'll see you again soon
Longest irons EVER? Callaway Rogue X Review
Video Transcription
[Music] this is my review of the new Callaway rogue Xin Callaway claim this is their longest and they've ever made all apologetically the longest I've ever made it sits in the Rogue family you've got the rogue iron and the rogue Pro if you want to see more information about those two clubs check out my channel but this is all about the rogue X I'm going to test them on DC quad with probably ones I've got the seven the four and the picture way to test to see if these are ridiculously long [Music] I'm Rick shields and I'm down here at Qwest Golf Academy if you are new to my channel welcome the hole if you enjoy the video smash that like button and if you are not a subscriber yet hit the subscribe button it keeps you connected to all the videos I post on my youtube channel so you don't miss a single thing I'm gonna give this a hit now this is their longest 7-iron they've ever made and the reason being longest ever and I've ever made is because they have cranked the lofts to a new record low I'm gonna hit well then we're gonna talk about it so this is the 7-iron this is normal length 7-iron now I normally carry my 7-iron my standard 7-iron around 170 to to 175 yards let's see what this does I put a flag there at 200 yards and that carried 197 yards that's not a 7-iron ladies and gentlemen that's a 5-iron and why I say that I carry 196 yards why I say that it's because traditional loft for a 7-iron is 35 degrees that's where I would normally see a 7 I'll offset more modern era lofts have got much closer to 30 degrees for a 7-iron and that's kind of become almost somewhat the industry standard kind of up 31 to 32 TaylorMade went to a new low last year they went sub 30 degree loft they went in at 28 point five degrees for the m2 we have a new leader this rogue X 7-iron is 27 degrees of loft and to put that into some sort of perspective my 5-iron that I use in my set is 27 degrees of loft this is a 5-iron with a 7-iron length shaft effectively they've made a one length kind of 5-iron loft it's monster so it's going along it's going ridiculously long and I mean that is too far to hit 7-iron but they have give Callaway wrong level of credit is there not discouraging that they're saying that this is long and that's where it sits I feel like Joe Miller hitting this server line like this is the longest every night I've probably ever hit let's give it another hit it's not the best looking iron it's quite round it's quite bubbled so it doesn't it doesn't look like a 7-iron I feel like I've even my board position I feel like I've got to go a bit further forward because it feels more like I'm hittin a 5-iron but with a shorter shaft I didn't hit that very well I've actually hit that a little bit from the toe and that's still finished on the grief so you can see there for a strike location very much from the toe these clubs aren't tailored to me they've not bent not in the correct line Lauren the same the right shafts that's why I'm probably going to get a little bit of toe down on the lie angle but just to show you that was from the toe and it still carried 193 yards again it's unbelievable I mean and why I say it's unbelievable it's because it's just the number on the bottom is not the number that it should be is their 5-iron I'm going to show you some numbers looking about that all the big things that I'm concerned about is yes is the number a big deal on the bottom to a degree because is it going to go high enough from what I've seen no is it going to spin enough probably not is it gonna stop quick enough probably not but if you're after pure distance and you don't care about any of that above that I mentioned then this might the way you need to look if you're just looking for distance and you don't care one coyote whether the spin numbers are high or the height is high this is where you need to look let's get one more that's going to step on this one a little bit low on the head and that's still 190 carry distance so my goodness and like I say that is that's 5-iron that's where it is now stay tuned because we've not finished yet because the lofts go crazier the lost go more mental that's a seven I'm going to show you that data in a minute I want to compare it to the rogue of standard as well just to show you the kind of craziness of this law structure let's move on to 4i next so moving into now the for iron and again I would normally traditional lot for a four iron to sit somewhere in the low twenties my forehead is twenty four degrees of loft modern day for irons are probably getting nearer to twenty one twenty two but not the rogue axe the rogue X is eighteen point five it's a to high end oh man it's a two iron in a foreign for iron length let's give it a hit what's surprising with this club and I took some close-ups before I really apologize by the way the close-ups look a bit scrappy on this this is a club that Callaway have sent me that has already been pre hit I don't know who the hell pre hits it but they are pretty battered and the wedge is really battered the 7-iron was brand-new and the four iron it doesn't actually look as strong as eighteen point five whether that's because it's got a little bit more club head behind and whether the offset makes it look like it's got more loft it doesn't look as stupidly strong now I put a flag out there at 250 now that's just that's that's Dustin Johnson style ask for Ireland let's see what happens with the four I love this I mean just outrageous it's nearly on the front edge from the four iron I mean downwind downhill yes I might get 4i in there at 250 but never in a million years am I getting there with four iron traditionally but flight wise I'm looking at that coming out like it's not a four iron if you gave me this club and said hit that I would go that feels like a short length a shorter length to iron three I maybe a push button to iron the 2i and I carry in my bag is 18 degrees that's to put that into some perspective these are these are two clubs stronger than standard sets now they sound pretty epic I mean I shouldn't use the word epic that flushes they sound pretty solid they've seemed pretty powerful they sound like rockets coming off the head now there is some structure behind the head urethane microspheres behind the head which is helping with different sound on contact I'm still not maybe seeing that the hearing or feeling that they're still sound pretty clicky and allowed to me and pay me not the softest feel that was a bad hit but it still managed to get there they're just silly they're just silly long let's give one more a hit try to go out that a bit more for some golfers it will build a level of confidence up it will it's got to do the fact that you know they'll hit 6-iron longer than than the Powell's they'll hear the 7-iron is longer than the plane partners have played with for years and years I just think practicality of it it's not is it gonna make you any better at golf possibly not but the people buy equipment just to make them better at golf sounds like a daft question up I don't always think that's the case I think people buy equipment to either a bragging rights across friends or just enjoy the game more it's an interesting idea let's move to the pitching wedge next which is at 41 degree of loft so moving into the pitching wedge this is 41 degrees of loft to put Anton's perspective normal wedge lofts pitching wedge is around 46 to 48 degrees of loft so this is really is a strong 9-iron so eight and a half iron so put the flag there at 150 now for me this is the one oddly that looks the most different lofted for me visually this does not look like a pitching wedge whatsoever I've not been the biggest fan of the rogue wedge shaping this year they look very round and spoon like not particularly the best looking wedge but that just looks like a 9-iron with a wedge shaft in it really let's give it a hit at 150 yards away don't know it's quite gonna reach out that's a bit of a pushy one no take it back it did reach how be honest that didn't actually hit that like well and it still got there height-wise it's nowhere not even close to how I visually see a pitching wedge it that just came out I like a 9-iron it just came out flight it came out forward it didn't seem to have a lot of of heights I'm gonna compare these numbers to the rogue in a minute and the road pro just not the loft of a wedge it's the speed of a pitching wedge but I'm not getting the lost and maybe not so much to spin that stopped pretty quickly in fairness to it let's give it one more with the rogue X and then we'll dive into some of the numbers and then give you a conclusion of the rogue X ions as higher if I got to force that higher still though or slightly favoring the right there in fairness to more stock pretty quickly but not bad for a 9-iron I mean pitch wedge right let's not look at some numbers and I'll give a conclusion of the rogue X Isles okay so dive back into my little red book of testing from when I tested the rogue and the rogue pro I want to compare the numbers that I've just received from rogue X and compare it to these the rogue X numbers we see average carry distance from the shots that hit 193 yards carry distance that's bonkers 128 ball speed which is very fast for a 7-iron and I will you know review it as a 7-iron 4600 rpm spin which is on the very very low side and I was getting peak high in this you know it's interest I'm gonna come back just a minute peak height at 31 yards in the air and descent angle at 43 degrees which actually isn't that bad for a 7-iron of this caliber for iron I was carrying the ball 220 yards on average with the 18 point five degree floor i'm i was getting 140 ball speed which was is hot I must admit under 4000 speed only three and a half thousand and really again 235 told distance peak height was coming out 25 yards up in the air and 35.9 was its descent angle which again compared to the road which I showed him in it isn't far off pitching wedge carrying it one four six which is like well Norma see my 9-iron and spin rate at 7600 which is mega low for a pitching wedge 108 mass primer ball speed peak height was coming in at 35 yards up in the air and descent angle was 50 so really for me just the numbers are a club sometimes two clubs away from where I believe they should be but if I was testing it just solely against rogue standard I see a difference in 7-iron different distance and I think it's about three I think there's three degrees of difference between the two clubs have rogue standard and rogue X I'm seeing an extra on this 15 yards extra carry distance which is definitely on the high side and a much lower spin rate but when you compare the peak high and the descent angle it matches it brilliantly so I got the same peak height and I got almost the same descent angle at around 34 33 2/3 sorry 43 to 44 degrees so even though the spins low I'm somewhat confident to a degree that ball's gonna stop a bit but that's me hitting him at 92 miles per hour combat speed if you're hitting them slower are you gonna get the high I gonna get the descent angle that's something you're gonna have to test as each individual watching for iron on my rogue standard I was 207 carry now to 20 13 yards difference again but that's the extra strength in lofts they are two degrees stronger lofts but again peak height disentangled matched up exactly the same and in the pitch you much finally I was carrying the pitching wedge only four yards longer with rogue X but peak high and again descent angle was actually really really good so there's a chance of this ball stop it on the green if you hit them hard enough the way to the center gravity has been lowered on the head there they have some pretend that ball might just stop I'm not going to compare these two rogue Pro cuz they're a different kettle of fish and I thought there's no real point in doing that if you're looking at either rogue X or rogue pro you're probably the two contrasting two different to each other interesting points a couple of couple I want to make first off we look at the price and these are you're not gonna get a lot change from a full set out of a thousand dollars or a thousand pounds so that they match up the same price of the rogue standard and the rogue Pro couple of things who are these gonna be aimed at well for me they're aimed at completely and utterly the guy who just wants to hit the golf ball further that is simply it by any means possible he doesn't care he she doesn't care how they hit the ball further they just want more distance they don't care they're cheating the system might change it all off all they know is they turn up on a Saturday and play against Bill and not try think of a guy's name he would use these Tim wants to beat Bill and Tim wants to an iron that is stronger and Tim wants an iron that hits the ball further than bill and that is the end of story until Tim might just fork out a thousand pounds dollars to do such thing will it make him a better golfer probably not probably not will it make him feel slightly better probably yes another side note the stronger loft you go for there's more chance potentially of hitting that golf ball more offline as you've got a flatter in the face the the ball hasn't the club has more dominance of the balls starting location often sometimes curvature the golf ball as you go flatter lofted and that's also a consideration if you just have the distance only and would jeopardize Direction great these might be a nice fit for you but you've got to be honest the bill is going to know that Tim is playing with a stronger lofted Club and that's kind of where it's gonna be up guys that was my full review of the rogue X iron I don't not going to see these out on the golf course I just don't mass as I see the point for me test amount the golf course I might try and do with someone else down the line potentially if you liked the video hit that like button I'd love to hear your thoughts with the comments down below new to my channel or have been a long time watcher but not yet subscribed subscribe now it is free to do you hit that subscribe button and you are always connected to my channel you will never miss a video and to go even one step further go on to my youtube homepage or the app on your phone hit that little Bell button and that will keep you notified as soon as I release the video you will be one of the first people to know about it thanks for watching guys stay tuned lots more to come and that was the rogue Xin or I'm gonna call him the Joe Miller iron the Calloway brought our Joe would have been a better name than Tim anyway we'll see y'all soon
Callaway Rogue Iron Review
Video Transcription
well Brutus might need to down here it Laer them golf come a very sunny January day here which makes a change so not quite as well the wind is it normally is here at this time of year I've got a new product review for here today and it's the Callaway rogue iron so obviously Callaway releases some a big family road product here with the woods of the fairways hybrids and the aliens now there's a couple sets of eyes here we've got the rogue of three sets but the Rogue rogue Pro and then rogue X okay so the X is a very strong lofted one very powerful golf club I'm going to be doing a review that coming shortly on my channel this is the this rogue standard row guide sits in the middle and then you've got rogue Pro which is a little bit more compact bit need to look and a little bit more of a playability sort of iron really without it being sort of forged so we're gonna look at the rogue and today and see how this sort of performs I think this is probably gonna be the biggest seller here forgiving iron is a lot of Technology in here is a lot of tungsten in the club here but the cook 360 design which we've seen in a lot of previous models of callaway there which they're keeping that technology in there which is helping ball speed across the face as i say they're putting some multi material stuff in here now sort ulcers in there which again is allowing it to shift weight keep ball speed up across the clubface there's also urethane microspheres in here which is basically again another material here to help really with sound so callaway saying this is going to be a real combination of accuracy distance and a no very appealing sounding golf club so i'm gonna look at all those factors that can wear claiming here we're going to put it on to test i've got g c2 HMT set or PSO we're gonna look at some numbers as we always do how this sort performs me i've got this in two degrees all right half inch longer stiff which is bit more my spec here so we'll provide some feedback as to how this performs and maybe give you an idea where there's something you go out there and try yourselves so set ourselves out here 183 yards from that from the green I've got a 7-iron here now the loft on this 79 is 30 degrees of loss so it's a loft that you'd expect for a game improvement iron you know get into that stronger sort of loft there so as I present that down by the golf ball it's a big appearance okay there's a lot of offset there stands out to me straight away a lot of offset and a very soft thick top line so it's chunky you've got that chrome polished heel and toe section there around the sort of perimeter at the golf club the shaded bit with obviously the grooves and you've got two white bottom grooves there which I quite like because that just helps you to probably just square the club face up a little bit but to me it's not the it's not a look I really like because it's obviously very very thick top edge it's a lot of offset that just feels like to me it's gonna go left on me with that offset but obviously for golfers little tie-in and help them incredibly you know in terms of trying to square clubface all my jokes golfers will hit it left to right so this will help square clubface look a little bit more but we'll get his first one sort of hit so to say Onegin 518 283 from the green here see how this deforms wow it's a high ball flight a very high ball flight there's no issues of that launching that's all so that's hitting the green quite nicely there first thing today it sounds pretty loud okay so they're talking about a urethane microspheres which is a so helping with sound but that sounded pretty loud first hit there hit some more okay again that was a soulish strike but that's gone left now so maybe the only thing I would fear with this fit for me personally again with that offset just feel like I'm going to turn that all over there so I'll just miss that left in the green there strike was good and bossy just drawn off left of left of target that's that's probably the only downside for me is with that officer as I said that can help a lot of golfers that are obviously a left-to-right fade of the golf ball the offset will help massively trying to square that clubface off again no the good strike lovely height our ball fly there that's hitting the green nicely and it looks we stopping pretty quick now interesting look at spin number that carried out 179 that's spinning just over 6,000 revs so again it's an interesting one with you know this this game improvement iron we know lost get stronger and probably the biggest comment and I'm gonna do a video on this which will be a bit controversial a ball I'm gonna do a separate video this is gonna come soon but how a strong lofted 79 can launch so high and what we're seeing with these new ones have done and for review we saw slightly how you spin number there then maybe m2 and definitely probably a rogue and I'm gonna go head-to-head with here with rogue and steal at XR which is this is really sort of replacing and again I would say we saw a slightly lower spin number yet this is now with the rogue that we've seen some higher spin numbers it's gonna be really interesting to see how these or we are seeing how they strong lofted irons and if they're strong loft is sure they've gotta come out lower you know sure there should be six iron stamps on their bottom of the head not a seven iron and it's gotta come out long but we're not seeing that so something with the CG placement in the head that makes this ball launch high and and will seems a different spin number here now get away how the how the position is CG placement through the actual claw head again slightly lower on the face that one but not that it's open awake hit the green hit the distance there as well and again looks like you start pretty quick that code at ye T there was a slightly longer face strikes will it fire therein interesting spin numbers here it is quite a loud sounding golf club I'm not sure when that urethane is making much difference that it sounds pretty loud to me but then again the game improvement irons if you look at the other game improvement irons and the different Browns they're all quite a loud sort of crack as they come off the clubface okay right let's go sometimes a lot with more detail I'm gonna really interested to see these numbers here and see how Rogue is performing for me okay so let's have a look at some numbers here so club head speed around that 95 mark which is my number for sort of 7-iron ball speed at 126 there so probably expect that to be a touch higher but it's not by any means a low number there and Lord should it 16 and a half degrees which she sought typically around my so number really maybe sort of seventeen and a half just slightly lower possibly and this is really interesting look at spin number six thousand four game improvement iron a loft of thirty degrees you know it's it's a good spin number there so that's you know typically as I mentioned before these game improvement irons strong loss previously we've seen some spins of for an hour thousand five thousand so numbers they're very much struggling to get into six thousands by any means so that's a good sort of number but really consistent number there as well you know it's quite a tight sore dispersion which is quite it's quite impressive really peak about 33 yards and carrying average it at 178 so you can see there with a carry distance is the first one was to the poorer hit really at 172 but the other three were fairly decent hits I think the third shot hit there was a was another's last shot was slightly low in the clubface but still hit 182 there so keeping some decent ball speed there you know on slight miss hits also right guys so there we have hit rogue I am reviewed and tested by myself there and some good numbers I'm quite unpleasantly surprised with that and quite pleased with that sort of numbers that I've sort of been given now I'll see what if it isn't for my eye you know yeah I would play with this sort of area but you know so the look doesn't isn't great for my eye here but again will more suit a lot of golfers here somebody's wanting a bit more confidence was sitting the club down by the golf ball with this off slightly large appearance a thicker top-line just gives you that feel of a bit of oomph behind it in a way after the offset will help majority of golfers who would hit a fade or a slice or a push shot that'll really help to get that clubface square him up there I'll see multi material aid all help wood ball speed across the face which you making it more and more forgiving and we shop see what all these ions around 30 degrees a lot is it massively strong but it isn't a strong Category there but a very good spin number which is really interesting to sort of see and I think is a big advantage for a lot of golfers received because after the ball speeds we love doing the tech here we're seeing now you know three fixings of a sort of average golfers coming through the studios here we're seeing some good ball speed gains with them but then a lot of golfers may not quite have the club head speed or sometimes the ball speed to keep it in the air the spin gets low and officer then you've got the issue of controlling it when it comes in to land so these slightly higher spin numbers were seen with these game improvements items is for me is a big plus you know you get that bit of control but the ball speeds there the lodge is in the right area Kenny makes the question you know this strong loft why do these balls still for launch the sort of norm why do they not lost lower than ever as the video is gonna come separately to there and we'll have a lot of discussion on that and but yeah rock I am I'm impressed with that that's a good solid iron and I think I'll end on great job there exquisite o'clock box I think that's going to be a big seller for 2018 here okay thanks so much watch guys do comment down below what your thoughts on rogue iron have you got steel at X hour at the moment are you looking for a sort of to upgrade yeah I think ray if that's if you look at it oh great I think and put rogue on your radar there I think it's that's a good performing iron i'll see the key here again as it as I always say is to get fit loads of shaft options lie up shion's here off this combo and you're set up with hybrids and wedges at the other end is key as well so obviously get yourself into a good fit to do that okay guys thanks what you do coming down I'll hit that subscribe button much appreciated and also hit that little Bella icon so you get notifications and any future videos that drop on to my channel and hopefully I'll catch up you're all very soon
NEW CALLAWAY ROGUE IRONS - FIRST LOOK/FIRST HIT
Video Transcription
hi guys it's Rick shields down here at Qwest Golf Academy and this is the first look first hit video of the new Lionel of Callaway rogue ions there are four new sets of iron's coming out from Callaway but each new iron fits a different type of golfer so they've got rogue standard rogue Pro Rogue X and rogue W I've got some pull sets for the row for the standard rogue and the rogue Pro which I'm gonna hit in this video and I'm looking forward to getting the X and W to try out possibly as well let's talk about the technology that Callaway acclaiming with these new ions and these really are to accompany the new drivers and wood ranges have just come out if you want to see the reviews of the other the first a first look of those the link up there in the corner is telling you a little bit more about the woods so the ions these are really what I would possibly see is more like an XR replacement they are powerful they've got face cup technology 360 face cup technology they are a good-looking iron the stem that has a relatively large amount of offset and the loft for the stand that is 30 degrees for the 7-iron I will put all the degrees across the bottom for the standard now what they've callaway claim is because they've made the face so fast and so powerful that what they were experiencing with that is a very clicky noise and I would agree with that sometimes a powerful iron is clicking so what they've done be fat behind the face is putting a softer material almost like a youth or a material which responds when a player hits it to change the acoustic and change the sound of the iron looking forward to seeing if guys the case that's the standard rogue which I will hit I've got the 417 wedge I'll do some more fuller reviews with the standard rogue iron as well we're moving into the pro now and the pro is for the loft we're looking at 31 degrees for the 7-iron I'll put on lost there below a little bit weaker than the standard ions and a smaller head nowhere near as much offset and actually visually I would say a very good looking iron we've got a couple of bars behind the face which again linked back in with rogue standard again the same youth or a material is behind this face because again the saying the fast therefore they've got a dump and the sound which will test are they actually faster is that just something the trellis tell us and then we move into a very very interesting iron this is the Rogue X and we now have an official strongest iron loft on the planet get ready for this seven iron loft 27 degrees I said it 27 the rogue X what Calloway is saying they are on apologetically long they're just saying we just made a long iron it does mean you know something to see what everyone but if you want to hit the ball further we're gonna make it for you that's what Calloway claiming with the Rogue X I've not got full samples of this yet I will get them very soon to review fully and I'm excited to see how far I hit a 27 degree 7-iron and whether that 27 degree 7-iron still goes that high it still stops I would I would question it doesn't but let's see if that's the case that's the X and in the final Club for this lineup and this is an interesting one because this is rogue W now Rho W they're not claiming is just for what we would imagine would be for women this rogue w is a unisex club which is suited for slower swing speeds the male or female it doesn't really matter the loft has gone the complete opposite way with rogue W and we're using thirty-one point five degrees of loft with a 7-iron in the road W again I've not got a full sample of those but this would be good to hit someone with a slower swing speed I would imagine would benefit from this and again I like this idea that they're not particularly stereotyping male and females into one club so this is a unisex Club for all different types of golfers looking at price-wise with these ions in steel you're looking at around kind of nine hundred and fifty dollars around that mark called nine hundred pounds and for the W which I think only comes in graphite you're looking at over a thousand pound slash dollars but they are not in the price racket of epic irons so epic aims were like two thousand dollars pounds these are really half the price of those so it'd be interesting to test them I'm going to test the standard and the and the pro give it a first hit both seven irons and we'll see how they fare whether actually they are good clubs and with the powerful and I'll do a full review coming very soon okay so first hit Callaway rogue iron and the Sun rock staff with a standard one and then hit the pro which I mentioned before I've not got the X and the W in a speck for me just yet so stay tuned I will come back with that so let's hit the rogue 7-iron so this is thirty degrees of loft for the seven so I'm expecting it to go pretty decent length it has got quite a bit of offset the top line is pretty chunky but actually looks quite generous to hit it very much resembles the shape of an X our iron but I would probably just say that the I don't know what it is the graphics of the of the groove seems to stand out a little bit more whether that's because it's new or whether because it's kind of has been redesigned it we think to pop up face just a touch more definite a lot of offsets well I don't know what the result Direction wise is gonna look like but let's give it a hit I say what they're saying is one of the big piece of technology is I didn't expect to go right is um sound like they've managed to change the sound with this neutering kind of material behind the head it's supposed to respond on centered hits off sorry on the hits of contact and that did sound good I've pushed it but I had no complaints about the sound at all and distance seemed very healthy for a club as I would expect from this of this caliber down the line of it might just go a fraction long yeah put the flag there at 180 a little bit under estimating the power it's carried there at 190 odd flight was so much stronger and like I said the first shot I hit with this the first hit was was the the legit first here so it takes me maybe a couple of shots to get used to the weighting let's go one more with the standard rogue iron I like the sound I will still wouldn't say it's a perfect sound I would still say it has a little bit of element of click but you're going to get that when you make the clubs of different materials anyway so let's jump into the rogue pro feelings off the rogue good I like the sound I would expect through it the more clicky but it wasn't so maybe that technology's doing his job the rogue pro this looks smart this looks really nice and this really is to replace something like an XR pro way less offset unbelievably better looking iron from in my opinion when I'm looking down at it this is now 31 degrees of loft I'm gonna keep the flag where it is and give this a hit with a 7-iron nice pin high just like for birdie as definitely sounds better feel off the face even on that first one for me has a more responsive feeling off the face it just looks in my opinion the way I look at a golf club just so much nicer let's set another one with beer the rogue pro clicks away that's gonna go a little bit too far I think you know right down the line of it but just came out a little bit hot sometimes I find cutaway irons to be a bit guilty of that the front to back dispersion can be a little bit inconsistent just because of the loft I have no complaints with the feel of this Golf Club the look of this Golf Club I just whirring we might see in future testing whether we do get those hot and cold shots that something's going to come down to a little bit strike I don't want the clubs to change the direction the length of the shot too much aha dye is on the money that is crushed get out of it get down a bit see see I'm saying that I've gone kind of I don't know the exact numbers but 180 Ishq area to 185 carry to nearly 190 carry that last one maybe that's me just getting a bit more used to the iron possibly but I don't want the iron to go too hot when we've put the word role stamps on this iron you want it to be consistent numbers and I felt like I hit those somewhat near similar to this the strike location as well stay tuned to more testing whether we see that pattern continue as we go into a 2-week testing process with the standard and the pro like I mentioned I've got the X coming up the X is the strongest loss you've ever seen in your life I have no idea how far a 7-iron is going to go we'll find out as we go along and like I say I'm not going to probably test the W that's called maybe I can get tested to come in and test it I even think it might I think it would be too soft even for through a posture I don't even think it's in these categorizing kits for a slower swing speed the rub stay tuned lots more to come I've got the rogue driver video up on my channel the first look first hit you can go and check out and again come back in about two and a half weeks three weeks to see a full in-depth review of the rogue ions I want to hear your questions as well fire your questions in the comments below and I'll get through them in the full review as much as I can stay tuned guys lots more to come thanks for watching stay connected to the channel by subscribing and that was the Callaway rogue standard a rogue pro first hit thanks for watching and we'll see you next time
Callaway Rogue Irons Review - Mid-handicap testing
Video Transcription
hi there James salvaged from national club golfer and today we're looking at the brand-new Callaway rogue ions now really interesting what Callaway have done here and with the rogue range it's similar to in a way to what they've done with their Rose Drive as well the fact that they've got three different head shapes with the row guys has actually four different types of ions just to almost give that sort of like fitting and adjustability benefits if you like you know within a set of iron's not like you know adjusting an individual I'm just having a different iron for a different type of player so we've got the the mass-market product if you like which would just be the regular road driver which is a sort of a game improvement distance iron or suit your sort of mid to high handicappers we've got the road pro iron which is just a little bit sleeker and more compact might appeal more to your better players but we've also got a rogue w which may appeal more to something a senior players which just looks a lot really wide sole and really forgiving nice and easy to launch and we've also got a rogue X which is basically like the regular drove but with absolutely ridiculous cranked lofts but for people who just want maximum distance so we've got like a twenty seven degree yes seven nine in the rogue X for example so between those four irons Callaway think that there's going to be something you know for everyone and I think there probably will be to be fair okay let's let's just start with that the regular rogue iron and what are our first impressions of these I think it's it's got loads of shelf appeal this this club and it's ER as you'd expect from you know sort of like a distance game improvement I knew they'd sort of like plenty of visible technology and you know you can sort of see what Calla we're trying to do here they've got some of their old technologies we've got they're sort of you know cup 360 cup face technology you know which is just really sort of about you know making tough you know making an iron head it almost performs a little bit more like like a wood head so it's got they're sort of a really sort of flexible face it's nice and large it's just sort of hollow and it's gonna get pretty fast ball speeds ball kind of you know bounding off that face but one of the main difference is that Callaway about it with with their road driver it's um it's really to do with sort of sound and feel we've seen this from other manufacturers over the last 12 months or so because when you've you've got these distance ions which have sort of a thin face and a hollow construction you know that they're going to send the ball flying absolutely miles but they're gonna they're gonna be a lot of vibration and they're gonna sound and feel pretty horrible to be honest previous so the technology that Callaway have added into these rogue ions it's called urethane microspheres that's what they've added in there behind the face and that's just to yeah dump in those vibrations give that really nice a premium sound and feel so we've got that for out throughout the rogue eye and so that's the you know the sort of interesting new technology that we've got in these these clubs so how does it work in in in practice what's it like when it comes to performance so yeah I tested out both these models here and say that the regular Rose model and that the rogue pro differences yeah you give you the the regular Rove model is a lot larger it's got more offset it's got a thicker top-line and obviously the opposite is true of the pro it's got this sort of thinner top-line not as much offset and it's just yeah just just more compact and refined look in terms of actually hitting I found this was this was like it was going absolutely miles for me it was it was working really really well I actually think that that the new technology that they've put in this club they actually make the sound and feel obviously a heck of a lot better than either steel head XR irons for example which were a good distance iron but you know luck sailor don't didn't we have like a premium sound and feel you've got all that Super Ball speed and distance coming from the road going but you've got that excellent sound feel I actually thought that the sound and feel was actually equal to or maybe even better than their epic ions which were they're super premium eyes they launched last year 1700 pounds for a set I actually think these are better so that was really interesting to see so yeah you know except number wise for me you know I was carrying it sort of in excess of 160 yards with a 7-iron which is which is really really good for me 7-iron is traditionally being a sort of 150 yard Club for me but with these I was getting some you know carry 162 total 175 you know really good ball speed 110 mile-an-hour the one slight issue I would say with with a club like this is that spin is quite low so you just just need to be wary of that if you you know tucking greens you know are going to be getting too much roll out and possibly for me yeah that spin you know down up sort of me I'm near like five thousand you know four thousand five hundred us just a little bit too low for me but you know for a fitting process you know I may be out of sort of get that spin up with with a different shaft so it's not just with this I'm we've see it we see it with the new Taylor made em for Ines as well there go an absolute mile but they don't spin very much so it's just something that you need to need to be wary of with the the rogue pro iron again really nice sound and feel but I just wasn't getting the consistency that I was getting with the regular model because I just just didn't feel like it was it was giving me as good a performance on the office end to hit so I was actually seeing you know quite a quite drop off it in in the carry numbers not as much loft on this server nine Eva but I was looking more at you know carrying average carry around about 150 total 160 so I was actually seeing about 10 yards difference between the two heads but again you know more spin from this club so it would be a difficult one for me if I would I want more if I wanted to just talk about more consistency in a tighter grouping I might actually even get that with a row pro but if I just kind of want a little bit extra distance and power I'd go for that for the regular model so interesting results there but that the key takeaway that I think that I'd like you to take from this review is that the sound and feel on these rogue ions is really really good I think about new technology is doing what it says it's going to do so that that's really pleasing to see okay so we've got some numbers there then for both ions yeah I've been really interested to see what your comments are on the looks of these ions you know do you like the look of them as this one just looking a little bit too chunky for you are you maybe leaning more towards that the row please post your comments below we are very interested to see Callaway probably don't get the credit that they deserve for making like really good ions but yeah they are really are making some fantastic ions and these days though yeah their drivers are really good their islands are really good you know that balls really good wedge is really good I think Callaway really came to stress the message that they are now a number up number one through the bag sort of equipment company and they do have some fantastic technology in their drivers and in their ions and I'd say the one thing that was lucky maybe from their ions last year like with that steelhead XR as I said it was it like the numbers were really good but it just wasn't very pleasing to hit and they've definitely ticked that box with the rogue so post your comments below are you going to be checking these out and let us know what you think thanks for watching we'll see you again soon
Callaway Rogue vs Rogue Pro vs Rogue X | Irons Test | Golf Monthly

hello Joel Toberman here from golf monthly and we're at West Hill on the range it's a very exciting day because we are testing the new Callaway rogue ions now there's four irons in this new range you can see I've got three of them here before we delve into the different models and what type of golfer they're going to be aimed at let's talk about the technology that is common in all of them callaway really wanted to focus on still being able to have ride ball speed and distance but also through better improved sound and feel and the way they've done that is through using something called urethane microspheres essentially when you have a thin clubface or common complaint of that is that the feel and sound is loud it's quite harsh so it's kind of I really want to rectify that with this special material called urethane microspheres it fills the cavity behind the face essentially it still dampens the feel and sound but allows the face that we still be nice and flexible doesn't slow the face down don't slow the ball speed down so you in theory get the best of both worlds and like I said there's four irons within the range the one I haven't got is the rogue W now the W stands for women's it's mainly a club designed for lady golfers and senior golfers it's more lightweight it's gonna help get the ball a lot in the air a lot more easily the three I've got here are the rogue standard the rogue pro and the rogue X now the rogue standard it's kind of giving golf with a little bit everything it's gonna give you distance and forgiveness the rogue pro is gonna give you the same type of performance benefits but in a more compact profile and the rogue X differs to the other two and then it's a slightly longer Club it's got much stronger lofts and it's designed for out-and-out distance predominantly for those with slower swing speeds so that's the top line technology what about the looks of these four yarns well they're starting with the rogue iron now the rogue has got a slightly darker finish to the rope throw it as a game improvement iron you were expected to have a little bit offset there it's got quite thin soft line it's very very conference inspiring down by the ball you've got the double white score on the bottom which definitely helps with alignment what I would say is that the rogue actually differs quite strongly to the road pro the road pro is a very different looking iron often with standard and pro models there's not too much between it often the pro is just slightly smaller whereas the road pro really does have a look all of its own it's got a much lighter finish it's got a much cleaner look down by the ball it's obviously got less offset thin the top-line all those kind of things but it's got a much cleaner look there's no double white score line it's a much more traditional looking I think it's definitely going to appeal to the low to mid handicapper moving on to the rogue X now as I mentioned before this is a stronger lofted Club it's designed more for distance and as you'd expect I've got the 5-iron here this is even chunkier steel than the rogue iron you've got a wider sole here you actually on this fiber and the back of the sole is visible behind the top-line so it's a very large conferences by Raluca line you can clearly see it's designed for maximum distance and forgiveness and it looks like it's going to deliver that so I've been testing all three of these clubs samples at this stage were limited in callaway but I would just send us a six iron in the rogue and the Road Pro and a five iron in the rogue X now listen what the loss of these clubs they would suggest that these ions are built from predominantly for distance the rogue pro is 27 degrees and the six sign the rogue is 26 degrees and the rogue X 5 iron is 21 degrees so apologies we can't give you a like-for-like test but hopefully the performance numbers that we've got should give you an insight into exactly how these irons perform so we talked about the looks let's talk about the numbers we've got some launch warrants our data to share with you who've been hitting them in indoor conditions with premium golf balls as well as on the range here today using our GC to launch one or two so hopefully we've got enough feedback and data to give you a verdict of how the clubs perform so let's delve into the numbers and see how they went so let's look at the numbers then for the three rogue irons I've got here just testing them in the standard stiff shaft offerings let's start with the rogue or in the standard model looking at the numbers here so you can see we've got some really good bull street here 128 miles now launching really high 19 and a half degrees spin as you might expect okay this is 16 but it's still splitting under 4000 rpms so very low spin contributing to some very impressive carry distance it's a hundred ninety five yards on average which is obviously very very long indeed a lot longer than I hit my current ions which obviously more traditionally lofted some pretty good stopping power they're looking at the descent angle of 47 degrees so he still looks like gonna stop the ball in the air especially with the peak height of 39 yards you know it's getting the ball up in the air nice and easily let's see how that compares with the rogue Pro which like I said is a degree weaker in loft you can see the ball spree came down a lot more than I was expecting actually 123 miles an hour with the road pro we're still producing average carry of 189 yards which is still very impressive surprising the bull flight was lower and the spin was lower I would actually expect the spin to come up slightly because the loft is slightly higher but you can see it's still nice and low they're three seven lower launch angle as well again not quite what you expect but don't forget the the rogue iron is a little bit of a larger iron it's got a wider soul perhaps potentially a lower CG in theory getting the ball up in the air a little bit easier very happy with the consistency of the numbers especially with the Rope row you can see here distances range from 186 to 191 so that's really really consistent front back dispersion of five yards is very impressive you can see it's slightly bigger on the row guy and it goes from one nine one to 201 so 10 yards with the rogue on itself so that's that's the rogue and the road Pro let's move on to the rogue X 5-iron and the numbers I got here were pretty staggering to be honest ball speed jumped up to 133 miles an hour look at that spin number it's spinning at two and a half thousand rpm it's average care of 216 yards with a 5-iron and it's peaking at 31 yards I mean let's face it essentially this rogue x51 is a driving iron for me you can clearly see it's built for distance it gets the ball up in the air okay launching at 16 degrees for a $5 actually not bad but it's luck so it's obvious this club is designed for speed and if you're a slow swing speed player that lacks distance the rogue exes certainly looks like it's going to deliver that through low spin fastball Street and relatively high launch so there you have it that's how these three rogue irons perform some really interesting numbers they're from the GC - what do you think for me I would say that the rogue iron itself is going to appeal to a wide spectrum of players but I'd say still it's aimed at the mid to high handicapper because is geared prominently for distance and forgiveness obviously we've not talked about the feel and sound of these clubs so let's talk about that the feel and sound was very good it felt very powerful very lively but it still wasn't overly loud often with game improvement distance clubs the ions tend to be quite loud and harsh so I would say that's definitely been reduced here certainly ions from previous years that I've tested from Callaway the feel and sound it's more muted it's more classic and definitely more appealing to a wider range of players the road pro is definitely my favorite for me the other ions if arguably went too far whereas the rave Pro was more in the ballpark of the distance I want a 6-iron to go to it's more compact it's slim it's it's got a much more pleasing finish on it for me I like that lights are finished and more traditional look to it also the lack of offset on it I think that's going to appeal to the mid to low handicappers but what I like about that Club is it gave me really consistent distances and it was surprisingly forgiving across a wide area on the face i really enjoyed that rope pro i and i could definitely see myself playing that at some point and finally the road ex what can I say about the road ex I mean this club is an absolute distance machine but it was always going to be those lofts a really strong effort I looked around internet I think it is the strongest lofted 5-iron out there on the market it's a degree half a degree stronger than the TaylorMade m4 5-iron so definitely built for out out distance but if you're a slow swinger who lacks distance the rogue X is potentially the club for you because it really is going to deliver in the area of performance that you're looking for for me I mean I could definitely play this club as a hybrid replacement because goes nearly as far as my hybrid gets the ball up in there pretty easily gives me some really good distance and also I feel I can shape it pretty easily as well obviously with the offset that I did tend to miss it fairly to the left you can see the dispersion is a little bit too there to the left bias but actually surprisingly impressed with how easy were they always a hit but especially that rogue exon you could put a pretty bad swing in it and still hit a fairly good shot with the rogue X okay so that's my take on the three Callaway rogue ions I hope you found that review helpful hopefully it gave you a bit of insight into how each three irons performed and the similarities and differences between the three irons as always my advice would always be go and try them out go and get custom fitted see which one is going to work best for your game as I said before the rogue X is built for out-and-out distance of forgiveness the rogue Pro is designed more for traditional distances and the softer sound I fear was the row standard iron is somewhere in between those two so thanks for watching make sure you visit the Golf monthly website go front to the YouTube channel for all our other videos or reviews of callaway products and the products that are up Callaway Rogue Iron | Club Review | American Golf
Video Transcription
[Music] my golfers nikkei for American golf from down at the angry store today I have with me the rope family of ions so Callaway just launching this product it's ready now in American golf we've got these ready to fit to pre-order if you want to come down to any store should have them in there so for heads in the range gonna start standard rope now all of these feature the same technology they've all got the 360 face cup designs you've had in the last few years which great increases ball speed off sensor hits why change it if it works now one of the criticisms that some of the color clubs in recent years is to sort of clicking a sound off the face obviously they've got these ridiculous thin faces that produce all these ball speeds but how do they may not feel better so they've put these urethane inserts in to dampen the feel the sound make it a little bit softer off the face but at the same time you're not losing the ball speed off the face so you've all got the same sort of technology in it VST steel as well so standard rope rope probe rogue X Rho W so you got the right women's club as well today I'm going to test I've got the club's reflectors on for the GC quad on a test Rogue rogue Pro Rogue X and then rogue W leave that for another day maybe get ledian to try that or some of that but today Owens can hit the three main ones for the men so first of all rogue standard seven nine thirty degrees so pretty strong rogue Pro 31 now callaway have brought out this club and its really just if you want to hit the ball long you want to have two mates how far you can get seven are getting this rogue X now I've not hit this yet so I'm not sure what to expect but be interesting in comparison I hit these all at the same time same swing hopefully get some good data but 27 degrees for a 7-iron that's ridiculous right for me it's almost like a fire bite so these clubs again but when's it gonna end we're gonna what we can have it 26:25 next year but anyway gonna be interesting to say a little bit chunky head but I'm expecting that to be really long so I'm looking really excited to try these clubs can't wait assess them out give you my opinion so Eskimo guy Calloway row seven nine thirty degrees okay yes it's all stick program on golf balls juices but set the green Atlantic so I'm expecting long its distance for seven line to sit behind the golf ball for my eyes a little bit chunky to the top line but it's going to fill the golden phone with some confidence to grooves with the bottoms or frame the ball quite nicely so not too bad looking it to me it's not ideal but a little bit of offset as well that should give some golfers and confidence so that's performs it wasn't quite at the middle that maybe not best shot start me so it felt a little bit off the bottom so that still badly look at the bottom whiting balls be one six nine carry that's right that that's a salt flat and more expected yeah so carried pretty much all the way to flag which is 180 wasn't perfect strike one to four full speed 479 pretty long so obviously this new technology have got an error in the Europe grain to sort down the Salomon feel which it does a little bit obviously previous one was I've said before it we click it with Facebook who's a bit better it's kind of a great so again I was a little bit off the bottom and super get one really good one fair shot and see pretty consistent both alike hitting pretty much the green each time ran about just under 180 carries me so pretty long for similar that's right that one-to-one ball speed best wife and he gets the flag yeah pretty much 180 two pairs of five shots there with the caribou Brian just a quick look at the data okay so looking at the data there you can see the first show I think quite strike it a couple of shots to hit a little bit off the bottom but you're still looking at a one to one ball speed for a 7-iron I was pretty long club head speed 90 which is about sort of my average so so smash facts of club efficiency 1.34 pretty good for the server nine there so just looking at some numbers quickly launch angle thirteen point seven so I'm expecting some similar sort of launch angle so that's a little bit low maybe that's to do with the sort of stripes on the face spin rates five three so it's low but not the lowest I've ever seen and carry distance averaging one seven three which is pretty long for a server nine considering that first shot did drop off a little bit so round about 175 carry for me for the Callaway right so let's move on okay so next up Callaway Road Pro 31 degrees right so expecting to 170 is she carrying probably close to 120 balls to me take a look at the head much more appealing to me that the grooves really stand out quite nicely has we've got the two white lines at the bottom less offset thinner top line looks good so if I see up performs so green still at 180 okay you little bit off the bottom that wasn't my best strike in the world it's been a drop-off shot with me still 165 carry on mishaps I Drive upon that run out like that so yeah 116 bull sweet-16 ball carrier there's more than meeting the club much better I've got a lovely upper face pretty group distance as well 177 carry 122 full speed well that was a good job powerful wasn't quite as good that previous shot just a little bit to the right 165 parry maybe not quite forgiving pro about here 115 so a little bit of drop off and full speed which you'd expect your better players I awesome absolutely awesome of it Wow when you connect to these cars I feel really good see very similar to that shot hit a second ago pretty much bang on my legs to carry one swing to full speed right middle so awesome okay it's a rush up very good try that one very consistent so you just open just the right pin best two strikes are getting out there to the pin 180 177 one to two full speed so I just take a look at later okay much better feel from the pride for me personally off the face but really good ball speed 120 so very similar to the rogue could have been a little bit warmed up don't know still carry distances 171 so up there with the standard swinging it one man out fast on average so definitely not quite as long as standard broke but feel of the face much better you can see all I hit a couple of shots off the bottom we did see a little bit drop-off in bulks we didn't quite see as much with standard rake so it's a little bit harder to hit but you get a better feel for it and you can see the consistency every shot just right the pin that's what I'd like to say just finishing just the right so let's take a look at some numbers so launch angle 15.4 spin rates similar 5-3 carry distance 171 so pretty impressed with the rope I'm looking forward to trying the x-ray okay Callaway rogue X not really sure it's expect from this a lot tested this no I hit it at all yet 27 degrees 7 ayah when you certain degrees well where's again so it's looks-wise similar ish to standard way maybe a bit more upset and you slightly thicker top-line but that's a pretty similar to standard right it's 27 degrees right okay hundreds of yards degree who expect him to carry it really with this struggle of this is like five lines me see okay yeah pretty good he's come out a lot lower than the other wool flax thought we would one nine to carry speed might soon be like sure nice one to seven ball speed mighty concern is really is this going to stop is it going to hold a green okay okay oh good love just having that me close to 190 again for three one two seven back spinning for to seems a bit more realistic still a lot lower than sounded right pretty good to be back when you sit behind the ball you can't see the back edge but I do sit man's like a full probably quite a good tester that comes back to me out the hill you probably see it on the corner put your bag let's look at it so slightly out here with that terrible bottom heel one two five books me still Scott bull speeds are probably quite good test that slightly more sense up still still getting out there so pretty good again pretty straight how are you great 190 sort of what expected really four thousand one to eight full speed one I carry ridiculous but to be fair over 19130 pretty close to 130 ball speed seven height okay Luka nips and some dates that was obvious pectin some ridiculous numbers for me that is ridiculous that's like 20 yards further carry then I would normally expect from a 7-iron it's at least 10 miles an hour ball speed that last shot there 1:30 ball speed off the face of normally expecting like 115 with my seven nine so ball speed numbers off the chart for me launch angle low 13 spin rate four-and-a-half low thousand lower where that's going to hold it green I don't know what was carrying that green there maybe I should put it 190 but average carry distance one eight seven seven nine color aerobics Wow so first of all there hit the standard calorie right which to me like I said on the video there little bit chunky looking but maybe it's gonna give golfers confidence so Stan Calloway rate was getting like 173 average carrying that was even with a Miss hit in there so you could see distance wise pretty long and feels better than the steel head XR obviously with this technology they got in the head it just dampens the feel gives it less of a sort of clicky sound really good golf club maybe I would say these are sort of a more mid handicappers someone that just wants a little bit more confidence behind the ball now moving on something does appear a little bit more to me Callaway Road Pro now this looks awesome I think the bull for the technology they put in this head is very nice-looking golf club I'll definitely consider using it from Luke's point of view performance point of view is pretty good as well the you could see the trajectory everything missing just in the same place you saw like to see I'm not interested in hitting the ball 190 yard Cali I just want to get a consistent trajectory consistent ball flight and a good feel so really impressed with the pro there and finally the rogue X was off the charts for me really and I this club was has been put out there as literally a distance iron if you want to hit the ball further you get this Golf Club so for me really impressed without interesting to hear your thoughts obviously we've got these clubs now in American golf anywhere around the country go and try them out I think they're awesome [Music]
Callaway Rogue Irons Review - Rogue, Rogue Pro and Rogue X
Video Transcription
[Music] get the revokes Alex etches from golf box so we had a fantastic and I mean fantastic experience with the rogue sub-zero driver if you haven't seen that review the link is below the wins will get in like ten eleven thousand views in a day which is obscene so thanks everyone for sharing you're doing a great job but now it's time to put the spotlight on the real guy ins so here we go the Callaway rogue iron review we aren't finished being a rogue just yet [Music] Wow tasty okay so we've got a standard model we've got a model for ladies we've got a model that's gonna blow your socks off and they've got another model that's targeting golfers that know doesn't know what they're doing problem is this is golf nobody knows what we're doing okay so yes I'm gonna do all the items in one review because they all feature core technologies after that it's developed they've all got their own target audience basically so we're going to do them all except for the ladies I haven't got the ladies head but if the ladies want to comment below and you want me to do the review I'd quite happily consider doing it if not me a nice lady okay so I thought I'll talk about the core technologies at the beginning of the review because the featured in every single one of the eye and so there's no point we're talking about it over and over and over again so we start with the urethane marker sphere yes if it doesn't work at least it sounds good that's all that matters but basically urethane is fitted inside the head and then infused with bubbles microspheres bubbles yep bubbles but you very lucky very very lucky I don't know how I've managed to get this footage but you're about to see real footage of this actually happening at Callaway you're welcome thank God my head's killing me how many more got of these can we not do do it with wine or something so these air pockets fit it inside the actual line in itself without it the urethane would just stay there would have no cor or very limited so the air pockets allow that to happen and we get this going and obviously that results in more ball speed kachou so as well the face cook technology returns why I changed something that clearly works however it is enhanced it's also got the vft common now in the rogue the variable face thickness so basically it's going to give us more ball speed across the face catching so mimd mimd mind mimd whatever you want to call it metal injected molded so inject metal is injected in the head hopefully that's not bills job otherwise if he sucks up it'll probably look like the Terminator okay yeah basically what that does is inject metal in purposely heavy so it affects the CG location throughout the set so every eye in plays differently with a different CG location it's progressive okay and therefore the mumbo-jumbo let's get on with this and it's going to start with the standard row guy [Music] well what do you think I think it's gorgeous it looks great it's not an iron that I'd obviously go for it's rather large and there's definitely an offset you can see that at address I'm pretty sure that the bubbles are in this bill [Laughter] right enough of the talk let's give it a go this has actually got progressive offset so they're not all the same so this is a 7-iron I'm going to be using the same shaft three shots with each iron so green 200 meters away felt pretty good very solid it does feel soft which is surprising yeah how are the bubbles ow [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so that was a rogue the standard and we're going to save these results and look at the end to see how it performs against the other two and it felt fantastic even though the strikes honestly the swings were so bad the one one-handed finish but we'll save these let's do the rail gets muscled time [Music] switch rather large it's a big head very clear offset oh yeah definitely offset large had strong laughs 27 degrees 7-iron however it's not illegal it's allowed if you want more distance why wouldn't ya and the good thing is Callaway is saying that you don't lose peak height it's gonna come out like a 7-iron if it reads 7-iron it's not going to be 7-iron it plays like a 2-iron doesn't going to matter does it alright so is the same shaft we've got the XP 105 X 100 so this is going to be X X P I'm pretty sure is going to be in the pro model but these are interchangeable heads the demos so I can keep it a fair test and just what the shaft over so yeah low CG we can expect this to go very high let's do it it's lighter construction so club head speed could be up that's gone miles jeez [Music] [Music] [Music] okay rogue axe that thing is hot I mean consistent swings horrendous really really bad today I don't know what's wrong with me well it's normal but the clock place is relatively square so we're still getting many more sad spin the thing is a spin mate is all that yes seven iron with poor looking I think five five five eight but we'll look into that into more detail at the end it's now time for the crown oh this is a belter it is gorgeous and I don't just mean shelf appeal here I mean that's a dress it is everything I want to see in an iron if you're not playing with golf its confident I feel confident it looks or everything off set really puts me off we'll see if I hit these any better yeah look at that looks to me are everything if I see offset like I say I'm doing all sorts of shapes into the ball even though this has got less meat it's not designed for distance what a range the whole range of rogue from start to finish is truly fantastic hats off again Callaway though that rogue throw is really the one that stands out for me it appeals to me and it's largely down to the looks thin top line limited offset it was a big who loved it the other two know but in the right hands a lot of people will like the looks of these there's a lot of meat a lot of help I think someone is going to get caught some damage with these iron so it's worth a try and jackets that are going to save the shots well the first three with the standard I could have deleted by accident however I've had a quick look over the results in god of rough average of those and you're looking seven iron 199 meters five thousand just over rpm well X 205 meters seven iron five for 83 RPM blow Pro hundred ninety nine meters Kerry five eight zero zero rpm pretty low so they're all rather low in backspin which could be a problem but I reckon love it was down to the striking it was not a good show today I'm sorry but I will do some grass testing get outside and have a look at some more specific figures this is really just looking like a first-look let's have a have a hit see how we get on but I loved it loved the feel love the look hats off again to Callaway right guys so I'm going to Orlando is you probably already knew if you do watch the Sub Zero review I'd like some questions in the comments below I will be doing a Q&A at some point in the trip so I'll do shout outs read the questions answer the questions and stick it on YouTube that's the plan I hope to I can answer them all but we'll see how I get on thank you as always for watching guys if you need any more help give us a call on one 865 to tuneable one and follow us on social media and subscribe bill go say goodbye [Music] it's me really [Music]
Final Words
Ok, so it's pretty clear that the Callaway Rogue Irons live up to the hype - we literally couldn't find a single review where by golfers couldn't improve their game with these clubs.
While they don't look like your traditional iron, they don't act like a traditional iron either - and to be honest, we think they look pretty damn cool!
