Lucky for us, Callaway Golf ERC Soft Triple Track Golf Balls come at a mid-price point in the market.
Callaway has done a great job in producing these golf balls.
Still, worth of its price in exchange for the value that it provides.
Callaway e rc golf ball expensive round circles let's talk about [Music] [Music] now I love the chrome soft I think it's a great ball I think it's a high-performance ball not only for your tall players but actually also for your average mid handicapper and then I saw these come out and first of all when I first saw the packet I was delighted I thought how has nobody thought of this before how has no other manufacturer come up with this idea of putting alignment lines because it's not a new thing people have been doing this for ages drawing lines on their golf ball with their soft spike alignment tool that costs about 12 pounds for example lining their ball up I do it now which I never used to and it made a huge difference to my putting how is no manufacturer before come up with this idea so I one of those inventions where you see it and you're like how did I not come up with that and it makes millions so initially when I saw this ball I was so excited at the thought of beginner golfers having the concept of lining the ball up then going standing over it and seeing the difference because that's one of my biggest faults I'm very much left eye dominant I think everything point out to the left hand side when I stand over the ball so I always pull my putts towards the hole until I side lining up the golf ball correctly I side hitting the ball a lot better my puting went through the roof this is the problem I find with this golf ball they say they've designed a longer more spinny ball which is basically on every packet on any golf ball out there longer distance more control softer feel every packet or any golf balls will say that none of them will say doesn't go anywhere but spins a lot or hardly spins but goes a mile none of them say that so this ball is designed exactly the same as the chrome soft people might say that they can tell the difference between this and a chrome soft but they are lying purely because it's going to give you the same sound the same feel the compression of the ball is exactly the same the exact and all dimples on the ball are pretty much similar so without the lines you pretty much wouldn't be able to tell the difference between these two balls this is the problem because I love the chrome soft so surely I should love this ball they're missing the market I find this ball so ironic it's funny people that use the chrome soft are typically going to be more of your scratch golfer they're gonna be guys that played for years they know what they like they know what they don't like and predominantly if you're a good player you would know whether you like lining up your ball with a marker and your sharpie or if you just like using your iron standing over and getting a bit of a feel for it why are they put this alignment system on a ball that's going to be 35 pounds a dozen because the guys that would use this already are using the sharpie and all going to buy into this ball because they'll just go back to marking and lining up their balls as they normally would and for your beginner golfer that is doesn't understand how important lining their ball that might be for them for example just getting over the concept of lining up parallel to the target and what it would do for their game but they'll see a dozen balls or sleeve of balls for example for 12 pounds or 10 pounds and they won't buy it why is this alignment or not on a super soft now don't get me wrong imagine there's some production cost that they've had to build a machine so that their lines can go on top of a golf ball but wise it's not available for every golf ball in Callaway's range and this is why I feel they've let themselves down and potentially a lot of market share this year because if they would have put this on the supersoft this is the ball I would be pushing as a professional to every beginner golfer that I would teach I'd be like forget what you're using at the moment forget your true soft or forget your strict and soft feel this is what you need it's going to feel good sound good and I'm a big fan of the super soft especially for a beginner golfer and not only that is got this alignment system already preset on it it means that for your putts you know you're gonna be aiming it even on the tee you can potentially aim it down the middle of the fairway so you know you can line up parallel to that golf ball and that is why I feel like the invention itself is so ingenious yet they've missed the mark completely with this golf ball because I'm not gonna say to my beginner lesson there's been hand-me-down clubs come to have a few beginner sessions or group lessons to then spend 35 to 40 pounds on a dozen set of golf balls all I'm gonna say it's going by this alignment tool and I'll show you how to mark up your golf balls correctly and when I saw the new range of the Callaway super soft and don't get me wrong the super soft a great ball but all they did this is bring out three different colors and brought out these green red and orange super soft which is great for juniors fun whatever but realistically they should have taken that money and just put some circles on it like this because initially when I first saw this ball I thought it was going to be a great addition to any professional shot and any beginner but when I saw that it was going to be the same market as the chrome soft I was a bit disappointed to say the least anyway maybe my thoughts on this new callaway ERC golf ball by all means give it a try if you don't align your balls up at the moment but equally you can go and buy just a normal ball line for six 10 quid get a sharpie and then you can align any book on the market out there at the moment and it will do is actually the same thing guys thank you ever so much for watching as always please subscribe leave this video I like and I catch you guys later
CALLAWAY E.R.C SOFT GOLF BALLS
all dan what's that I've got phone call here's the phone call from hello all right great alright alright are you nothing no absolutely nothing no no we just we just chilling out having a coffee sorry that's the sat on the bench 10 best we're just we're just chatting nothing nothing hello I bring you some gifts oh you got for me here we go named after the man himself they are indeed Eli Reeves Calloway Hayes the ERC soft triple-track technology should we remember that we'll look at those golf balls today shall we see what they're all about [Music] Matt's first impressions of that golf ball first impressions look similar dimpled pattern to the chrome soft are you okay interested and intrigued by the triple track yeah is that gonna help anyone will it help certain parts of the game like cutting lining it up and stuff I'm looking forward to seeing what it feels like around the greens that's where I sort of fit my golf ball around on the green shipping not so much whacking driver but yeah I'm quite intrigued by that more than anything your thirst yeah I like this hexagonal dimple patent they've got they've had this on a law golf balls now haven't they yeah yeah and for this dimple Pat and they use somebody that designed the aerodynamics for airplane wings yeah I believe that's the case with Callaway but this is this is good I like I like the idea of this I know Phil Mickelson has been using it in the last few weeks hasn't he on on the chrome stuff so I think they've made him a batch on tour to see how he would get on with this yeah but yeah so I'm someone that have used the line have you ever used the line I have yeah but I'll talk to you about why I don't okay well I'm really really keen to look at what this is going to do for certainly our cuttings other things as matt said you know when we're choosing golf balls we like to sort of get a feel for it around the Greens get a feel of what it feels like off the clubface with chipping a bit of cutting and that's kind of when I start to sort of determine whether I like to use that golf ball or not so let's hit some shots that's let's see what it does go on and down chipper for you call me chips with it don't dump it a forget a few good ones sound feel yeah that felt very soft initial thoughts on that okay they're saying the Proby aren't you so you're comparing it to that so I'm comparing it to pro-v I use Pro V over Pro V X okay the reason for that is because I feel the pro V X can be a bit clicky so I do like to feel a softer golf ball certainly chipping and puting with found soft that does sound soft it's at to me it sounds very much like and you'd be able to tell us more about this but what I felt when I first used the Chrome soft okay I felt that you know coming from a tightness ball that I was using a pro-v at the time so then testing the Chrome soft it felt very very soft and almost a bit pudding off the face of the actual wedge and putter and this is very much the same sort of feeling as that Callaway is saying that this is the longest softest ball that they're so they've changed the cover and got graphene in like yeah chrome softer than me I believe that's the case isn't it so they're using the same dimple pattern yeah but they've gone with a with it with a slightly hybrid multi material cover multi material cover what that's gonna do to your game questionable obviously yeah so go and test it and yeah if there's any games for yourself yeah like we said earlier we're more interested around the green and to you sound and feel nice yeah it does it feels good like I I coming from a pro-v I kind of prefer the feel of this more so I'll sweep you can later I can get yourself you can even get some sent through July it's a Bessie magic first feel let me get another look I got no looks down at the ball is that looking anything different to what you get from let's say the throne rom the ERC soft bit there so you gave me two balls without anything on them yeah wouldn't know which is which okay obviously it's got the triple track stuff on the side which I say does that is that can because I don't like too much on my golf ball well I usually true this little bit but I wouldn't be able to tell sounds feels very similar first two shots I would say maybe a little higher on the face and a little duller yeah so hard to say okay between the two I wouldn't be able to pick over them how's that bull reacting compared to what you would see from the chrome unless you won't be able to sort of would you say so you won't be able to measure spin rates but here there's too many variables going on to judge it basically okay so not seeing not necessarily seeing much difference in the way the bull reacts when it lands and rolls on that's what if I was to change golf ball I would want it to do what I would expect it to like if this ball was to go bang spin back yeah whoa what's good is they gonna have to adjust not exactly yeah but the looks the sound the feel very close to chrome soft yeah I like my chrome softer like my true vis so I possibly wouldn't change but let's have a look at the old track triple tracks you're on the patent so we other place see if that makes me wanna change or maybe I could poorest on a fills batch yeah that would be nice but we I mean as a as an ambassador with it'll be calling stop should we yeah we'll do that too and then we can measure everything yeah cool let's go on the pine green [Music] again I'm sure we look at some numbers yes yeah five cuts with no line yeah and then we hit five putts with the line using the the triple track yeah so let's just see if the numbers change at all for both of us so this is me this is you without any lie this is my nut so this is me no line mm-hmm this is my aim at address yeah that's averaging out pretty straight so I'm pretty straight with my aim oh good with aim obviously my skill level and good was consistency yeah so pretty good without a line you ever look at what I end up at impact so averaging 1.8 closed yeah so skill level pretty low consistently closed so textbook that is on the left basically is naught yeah liking it may be out always shaped my path my path is three point four degrees left on an average it's pretty consistent again isn't it let's have a look with the triple let's try the triple Linus if that helps me so triple track now so looking at what happened when I actually use the line on the ball you can see here now I'm one degree on an average open on my lineman so you could say my alignment is maybe got a little bit worse at address yeah so aiming slightly further right than what I would normally do but again it's pretty consistent isn't it impact this is the good thing this is where it's quite quite nice to see this bit because obviously I was about 1.8 degrees close the impact yeah coming through and pretty consistent of doing that but look at what's happened now so I now moved to point four so you can argue that I'm pretty much getting that putter now Square to my target or wherever I'm trying to get it towards by using that line the good thing is I'm consistent at it as well consistent with both consistent with both yeah but starting the ball in the right direct with yeah path again still three degrees left yeah so again nothing's changed yeah so it hasn't it hasn't let's say change my technique and what it has done is just allowed me to get that putter squarer impact which the ball in the direction that I want it to go really so this is me without ya and again it's very consistent so whether or not you can improve that is questionable and if I was to hit another five parts you know that might make a difference straightaway so let's have a look at the triple track anyway so this is my name my aims gone up a little bit okay point five now anything still I do have one round take that one out if I do that one out that would be very similar percentages to the no line so I'm not really seeing much with my stroke basically and the same thing that one that started left on where address is the same one that's close on an impact here my paths are all the same not really seeing a massive but you made a good point that I'm using a tube or without line yeah so I'm not lining that line up with any of my partners which I'm just trying to get a directional sort of bit of help yeah where are you and there's that's a fair point isn't it because this is you so no line on the top yeah okay they have made putters with lines on the top level name - oh yeah - and I've certainly seen players in the past that have drawn a line on there yeah how accurate that is I don't know but but certainly for me I use a putter with a line on it which I think goes hand in hand with this triple chat technology yeah and you could look at the numbers that we're seeing here today and you could probably say that that you might be a case for that would you say yeah I would yeah definitely it's quite for me it's you know I've used the line in the past I don't necessarily use it that much anymore but I have used the line in the past and reading into this I think I need to start using it maybe again and that's where I'm totally different yeah like I've got ninety or percent without the lines that just builds me with confidence basically so why would I change that when it's that level already [Music] [Music] what did you think of that so round up round it up the ice ball feels similar to my chrome soft yeah reacts the same yeah it was the same off the putter and my short clubs which is where I would fit my golf ball triple track technology me personally I don't think I need it looking at my Sam numbers I'm good at lining it up whether it would be different with a line on my putter again I'd have to test that yeah and you guys go out and test it too you go and see if that sort of technology can improve your cutting how you aim how you deliver that putter impact good ball good feel good sound nice around the area that I would definitely fit my golf ball so for me I love it I think this this track that they've done this triple track technology I think really works the other thing that I like about it which I didn't really pick up on certainly chipping but when I'm hitting full of shots when I've drawn a line on my ball which I do the I sometimes can hit that hit hit that line with it with an iron shot and it's cuts the line and that's so annoying I could see you so so having this already sort of printed onto the golf ball I know that hitting that shot is not going to scuff that line yeah so which which which is a real for me that's a real positive as soon as I off that line I changed the ball yeah so in this situation I wouldn't necessarily need to do that but I think it's a good golf ball it feels lovely around the Greens it's great to putt with help you with that direction with your perhaps aliy helped with start direction with the putter and it's given me more of a an idea that actually me using a line is actually a bit of a benefit for me yeah so that's that's a great test from that point of view not many companies have done the line I think maybe Strix and have done the line on another ball previously but I think Callaway doing this and obviously they're testing it on tour with Mickelson with the the chrome softball I think it's a positive thing be really interested to see what you guys think out there as well you know have you been out and tested this ball put some comments down below let us know what you think about it how does it feel for you are you using this ball thanks a lot man yeah thanks thank you that was a lovely mmm something big in a nice big box [Music]
[Music] my name is Jason Finley I'm the global director of brain and product management for the golf ball business account [Music] yeah this is a really exciting golf ball that we're very excited about so much so that we put the name of our founder ERC Ely Reeves Callaway on the golf ball this golf ball is gonna be all about redefining what's the distance golf ball is so this will be different than any other distance golf ball that golfers have ever played this would be the longest golf ball in our line yet it'll still provide distance and control for you around the group there's really three core technologies in this golf ball the first one is it's going to feature a new hybrid cover which is going to bring multiple materials together - for the first time bring a golf ball that's tremendously long but tremendously soft with great spin and control around the green at the same time we've combined that all with our graphene dual soft fast core which you can see is the largest we've ever made and this is gonna allow us to have the graphene outer core which makes it tremendously strong which allows us to have the inner core large soft at the same time which gives you low spin where you want it on the full shots and then tremendous spin around the Greens where you want it again so it's really doing what you need it to do when you need it to do it for you so really the best engine we believe in a golf ball and we've combined that all with our triple track technology on the RC soft golf ball which is going to allow for more exact accuracy and precision particularly on the green where you're able to line the ball up so we're really excited about the the RC soft golf ball and what its gonna do for golfers to allow them to have a golf ball that for the first time it's really long the longest ball that they'll be able to find in our line but still have something that they'll be able to spin and control around the green [Music] yeah so you know a big part of what triple-track became was we've we've seen a big influx in golfers that are using lines on their golf ball over half of the golfers are using something on the golf ball to line up the golf ball particularly as they putt around the green so we wanted to provide a solution to them to be able to do that better and what better way that we found the best way we found to do that was with triple track and what it is is you can see different color lines with very specific spacing and thicknesses that are different it's very similar the best way to compare it is to what you see on the scope of a rifle or landing a plane on an aircraft carrier it's based on a science of vernier acuity and the way your eyes work to use three parallel lines much better than just the single line so you're able to identify when you're offline much easier with the triple track technology [Music] I think you know obviously you'll see some beyond this but I would guess it would be in you know low single digits up to you know high teens would be that the primary area you would see this really for golfers that are you know they want a little more help they value distance probably above a few other things the chrome stuff is still going to be our most precise ball around the green so you'll see that being our ball on play on tour still the most so not quite the highest level player but certainly you know very high-end elite everyday golfers will be perfect for this [Music] our opinion is that the best way to do it is really find the ball that works best for you around the green and then build the rest of your game around that so you know the best way to fit yourself into a golf ball is really to go try them and play with them launch monitors are important you'll gets a good basis and starting point to know what the differences are between them but knowing how a ball is going to perform for you around the Greens it's gonna be the most important place to start I think for for the future of Callaway and technology the sky's the limit you've seen us come with things like using artificial intelligence to design drivers and using the lightest and strongest material in the world graphene and our golf balls that really have shown the advanced research capabilities that our company has to make sure that everything that is available to us we're using to help bring more enjoyment and fun to the game of golf for every day golfers because if we aren't having fun with the sports that we're playing and the free time that we're spending our life won't be occurring
much of the golf world is focused on the lightning bolt that indicates flash in the world of Callaway but not to be overlooked is what's happening in the development of golf ball technology Jason Finley is the director of global brand development and this this category has not just exploded but it's gone nuclear for Callaway hasn't it yeah we're really excited with the momentum we have and and certainly it's all about delivering products that the golfers are gonna love that's what's gonna that's what's led to the success we've kind of changed the way golf balls are made in a lot of cases and with this year's ERC soft we think we have another one ahead of us I used the ERC soft a couple days ago I was given kind of an unmarked box and I found puting with that thing with the new triple track design is phenomenally cool it's really good and all of our testing has shown the golfers are not only able to align it better but more consistently so both those things are gonna be really helpful to golfers at the same time so that's really a nice addition to an already really exciting product for us and the visuals of that are one thing it's great but the guts of it is what is what really grabbing attention so explain to the layman what the inside of golf ball technology looks like in Callaway's world yeah so for us the ERC soft is going to have the same engine if you will as the chrome soft golf ball just a slightly larger version of it and that's our graphene dual soft fast core which is all about delivering high speed with low spin on your full shots and then maximizing your spin around the green so that dual core really allows us to tune that in and very soft inner core with the firmer outer core it's a lot thinner than we've had in the past so really exciting as you and I are talking at the PGA Merchandise Show of course you have everything on display here what's gathering the most attention what's everybody flocking to I think for us you know it's it's it's kind of everything right so each year we have a very broad product line but we'll focus on a few key products so you'll see them kind of represented around our booth the epic flash driver Apex irons ERC golf ball chrome soft golf balls and the stroke lap putters but you know specifically for us in golf ball we've we've got a new our ERC soft golf ball this year we have a new super soft golf ball that includes mat colors for the first time and also the first time we've done the super soft Magna which is actually an oversized golf ball that's going to be very forgiving golf ball for a wide range of golfers you know it's fascinating how this process never ends the development of golf ball technology has from ten years ago is a completely different industry isn't it yeah it really is not only from the materials like you know we're using graphene in our golf balls which is known as the world's lightest and strongest material in the world the guys that invented it won the Nobel Prize for winning it right so you start to think about that kind of thing but also even if you talk about the triple track technology and our Truvy's technology which some would view as oh you put three straight lines on a golf ball how hard can that be but they're straight lines on a round surface and you want them to be durable and all those things so you can't just Google how to buy a machine to do that for you so you know a lot of work goes into you specially as you use these materials and new ways you're decorating golf balls you got to find the ways to do that in addition to finding those materials finding those new things to do so it's an it's an ongoing evolutionary process for sure and when Jason Finley hears the phrase the golf ball flies too far you say what well I've never heard a golfer tell me that I've never been accused of that by the way so you know there's some that think that I could argue probably ten different things that are contributing to that so it's not all the golf ball right you I know from when I grew up to today the way that people swing the golf clubs very different and the technology is very different so you know golf courses are way different so there's a thousand different ways to look at it but you know we're all about we're coming out with our longest ball in our line this year with the RC soft and I haven't heard one person complain that it goes too far yet so we'll keep going as much as we can and you know managing within the rules of golf and make the best products for golfers that actually want a little more distance my my golf dream is to one day have somebody watch me hit a ball and say see what I mean it goes too far hasn't really happened yet Jason it's fascinating we'll talk more about it in the days ahead but thanks the overview of what's happening in the world of Callaway golf ball Rob thanks for having me
