ONE LENGTH IRONS REVIEW
hi guys I let's tear down that little golf caddy me and today I'm testing the new Cobra King f8 one link things so I think you guys don't know about the one length idea and the concept the idea is that all your irons are the same length and lie angle seven and theory is I think incredibly sound and I actually played the f7 forged irons last year one length and found them incredibly consistent love the gap him for my in Hawaiian maybe the thing I only struggled with a little bit was just keeping the ball position the same I still felt I needed to move my ball position around but I've got seven nine five iron nine and and also the new one length hybrid so I'm going to hit five shots with each have a look at the gap in and seed is the gap in still there in the more modern Club because this is now kind of second generation for Cobra on the one length or the gap still good iron to iron give you guys a little bit of feedback on looks and feel maybe help sway you to at least try one length is even if I'm not necessary gonna convince you to put them straight in the bag so seven am for me looks great for me slightly thinner top-line than last year's f7 so I quite like that I think it might appeal to a slightly better player but like I said let's go seven iron five shots and look at some distances as we go through the clubs so it still feels lovely and quick off the club face put my usual little shapewear and certainly getting out there for 7n that was just a little bit clean if anything so be interesting to see if that distance wise gets out there not bad didn't really lose much there the one that didn't quite get really solid you can just turn it over a touch quite as much as the first couple but generally the yardage is a looking nice and consistent with 7-iron and pretty long and again good strike just turn it over really pleased that and the loft on this seven is twenty nine and a half degrees so it's it's strong it's not as strong as some of the stuff out there but for me there's looking to look like some good yardage ease from a relatively strong seventeen but let's go one final one a little bit heavy it's gonna turn over a little bit more yes that's not a great swing the last one more so the contacts but let's now switch over from 7-9 and let's just drop down to 9 n [Music] so for me here I'm just using the the fitting the kit that we've got here at living golf academy so it's really easy for me I could just pop the same shaft into the different heads the Langille czar all the same obviously just the head weights change a little bit more than normal but we've got 9 out of 39 degrees so it's quite a big loft gap from 29 and a half you know generally speaking with traditional irons you'd be probably looking at a four degree gap so at nine and a half that's a little bit bigger so again it'll be interesting to see sure it's been tested a lot but do we gap in properly on the yardage so even though I've been playing one length answer over a year still feels a little bit different to be picking up on a name that's the same length as my seven own but again that's at five more shots see how this goes it's definitely hit it very very high okay reasonable start I'll be honest I've only hit a 7-iron in warm-up here so I've got no idea with the five and the name but yet nine nine really looks like it hits it high be interesting to look when we get the numbers on GC to just to see if there is much of a difference in the height between seven and nine yeah definitely big high shots distance-wise don't look bad at the moment I'm 50 okay couple more [Music] again looking fairly consistent not sure puttin personally it's not sure about that height of shot with nine in last one then definitely a bit higher than I would normally hit now the distance is in there not too bad so let's just quickly have a look at the numbers between the two clubs there so we've got with 7-iron an average carry of 172 with nine and an average carry of one for seven that's probably just slightly bigger than I would be looking for but probably about what you'd expect from a nine and a half degree gap right then so let's switch over to firon and again let's switch over with the head so definitely as you switch into the five it's noticeable kind of how kind of big chunky it looks from the back hollow head you know should make it incredibly forgiving might need to be with the way I'm swinging and again like I said with the nine am now now it still feels different being long fire that still feels different being short but again it's a little bit chunkier on top than seven n but five shots let's see how five am performs that really goes like a bullet let's see if it stacks up yardage wise that's long four five in distance not shaft obviously so first one was a real bullet and that is incredibly easy to hit incredibly easy to hit that is a long long way for a fire in there for me personally okay so let's go again just left that one a little bit out to the right just not turning back over I mean it's 22 and a half degrees the 5-iron so it's it's strong it's not ridiculously strong what's it another couple oh it's just a super super impressive let's go one last one with the fireman and then let's have a quick look at those numbers I'm a bit thin a little bit off the bottom so definitely expecting some drop off with that not hugely then ok so let's quickly look at the numbers and see how the 5-iron 7-iron announced that cup before we go on to the hybrid because I think that's a very interesting Club for me ok so the one thing I didn't look at before was just the 9-iron high 52 so a 39-yard peak height so it's a little bit high but we said we're distance at 172 147 so really we'd be looking for around about that 192 now the thin wanna here actually was around about the right distance but other than that kind of comfortably over 200 yards so definitely for me not sure at the moment that with the f8 one length the the gaps between the ions is quite accurate enough right and obviously the last one we're going to go for is the hybrid now this is 22 degrees so the fight and this calls itself a 4 hybrid but the 5-iron was 22 and a half so again for me there's a discrepancy there I would argue though that maybe the guys who really really struggle with that as a fitter I wouldn't be too bothered what it says the number of the club should be it'd be about how far the ball goes so I mean in theory would this being 22 this should be very similar carry to the 5-iron this feels incredibly sure again it's not it's still 7-iron length and it's a much higher I would say maybe higher spinning shot would be interesting to look at the numbers but carried us since wise I thought that was pretty decent very high very soft flight and again good length so whereas for me that the 5-iron just seems it goes like a bullet this for hybrid is a much higher softer slighted shot one's a little bit lower off the face again not destructive we'd still take that there's still pretty good shows out forgiving the hybrids are with them being hollow but last couple with the one length hybrid massively high very very soft again over 200 yards just under four carry one final one I've left that out to the right so accuracy is poor on that bidets that is down to me I was very wide okay so let's look at the numbers because for me that the lofts on the five and the four hybrid the five iron in the four hybrid so are very very similar but I thought the flights were very very different so let's look at the numbers look at the distances and kind of talk through why we think they are what they are so we can see swing speed was actually down slightly with the hybrid ball speed was almost identical though now the interesting thing for me was the 5-iron was pretty low spinning at 3600 whereas the hybrid as it looked with the ball fight was a much higher spinning shots remarkably it was actually not a million miles off on height wise even though it did look a little bit higher but certainly that lower spin with the five and getting the ball out there further on carry and then much further on the roll let me go so the cobra King f8 one length so again I still like the concept of the one length the idea I mean particularly maybe for you guys who are still a little bit newer to golf and and find the challenge of the clubs changing half inch in length per Club my only little thing is I do think possibly for this year the lofts being like they are the gaps are just a little bigger than I would like to see and certainly for me that 5-iron just went poof was just unbelievably strong now I suspect quite a few of the guys that are into the bond length might end up going kind of 6-iron down and now there's the one length hybrid I think that offers a great option for that kind of higher softer landing shot particularly when you're hitting the ball into the green so second-generation Wan lengths from Cobra what do I think I think they're still very sounding concept like I said I've got a slight concern with the distances not enough of a concern if you're interested in one length you should get along and try it I think the concepts great and I think when you hit them and the fact that you be able to hit five seven and nine and hopefully hit a hybrid when you're down for a fitting will really really make a big difference for you but as ever you need to get along get fitted properly hit the product so it's correct for you to see how it performs so guys hope you've enjoyed the video NEW COBRA ONE LENGTH F8 IRONS REVIEW
hi guys these frictions down here at Qwest Golf Academy here at pro sports village I'm gonna be testing out a Cobra fa one length iron I've just tested the Cobra fa normal ions or varied length ions is now calling them and now we're gonna move on to the actual one length this is now the second generation one mint iron if you're not sure the concepts every single iron in the set from four iron all the way down to gap wedge is exactly the same length as the seven iron this has kind of been brought back into kind of fashion really by cobras Tour pro Bryson Dee Shambo who moves to Cobra last year and then Cobra brought out a single and set golf clubs one set of golf clubs and he's give it tour validation in the last 12 months by winning out on the PGA Tour so there's a lot more interest around these irons now the f8 iron this is replaced in the f7 this is more for your higher handicapper forgiveness there is still a one-line forged iron out on there as well which I don't believe is being replaced I might be wrong so I've just tested the fa with the five the seven and the gap wedge using probably ones and GC quad I'm gonna use that data to also in this review compare it to the one length iron another to seven irons we're not going to see any difference I'm just gonna hit three with those very quickly just so we've got the de stability it's not really about the seven iron as you would imagine but that's just to show that the one length under a fa exactly same golf score pretty much the only thing that's different is the grip one that always have the blue grips on them also feature the Cobra connects in the grip as well which I'll talk about a little bit more in the in the review of the FA now this is where we see a big difference we see the five iron versus the five iron this is normal length versus wrong length and we see a good inch and a bit difference in length what does that affect does it affect distance of that affects height they're claiming now they've managed to get over what they claim is the teething issues from the first generation of one land and then we go to the gap wedge where that actually flips around the standard length gap wedge is shorter than the Wunderland stuck at wedge which is seven iron lengths so I'm just hit very quickly three shots with the seven i'm just-just so we've got the numbers it's not really that important about the 7-iron but just so we've got the numbers of the f8 one at seven and then really the interesting numbers is when we come to the five and the gap wedge to see if it hits the right distances and the correct height we want to see with a 5-iron and the gap wedge I'll get three with these pro-v ones GC quad and then we'll hit the five and the gap wedge to really see the numbers I say stuck okay that's three shots with the one length and again I'm not expecting anything I was a bit left low expecting anything different to the FA well dicing the numbers in a minute I think the the 5-iron is where it's more important so one length 5-iron so this is a 7-iron length the difference between last generation in this generation is we've got a thicker bottom soul of this club so I think one of the biggest complaints last year it's certainly one of my biggest complaints as well is it just what the 5-iron just wasn't not getting the height the you Norma see with a regular 5-iron just because the speed wasn't quite easy to generate so they've they believe they've got a solution to this putting a thicker sole on it to help bring that weight down to be able to launch it higher we'll see if that's the case they've also worked really hard on getting the shaft that's going to suit this is a brand new shaft from True Temper this is a one flighted shaft and again this is both to really suit these one length golf clubs they've changed also a bit away in the neck and the hosel and they've slightly change the Langille of the longer Club let's see if it actually does anything different at all so I was carrying the normal 5-iron about 2:15 well I need to remember this 5-iron and I need to set up to it pretty much like a 7 and hits it like a 7 which I always find a little bit tricky let's see if I can do it so so it like a 7-iron and hits you like a Sarah line to come out lovely and straight is it gonna get the distance not really it's okay carried short like green where before I was actually carrying it on that green it's come out quite nice 2:04 carried all the way astray only five yards off line let's take a couple more see actually if there's a what the comparable numbers look like to the f8 just looks really weird the big thing that with the bottom lacquer being wider I can see slightly the back of the edge of that golf - bulging out of the back here with the 5 which I didn't have on the standard s8 not sure if I like that as much I can see why they've had to do it but it doesn't look maybe as tidy as and standard f8 the one thing I do have to slightly adjust is I still have to have that ball position more what I would see is a 5-iron ball position I don't like to have it like a 7-iron ball position and that's just a personal preference I know I've I've read quite a lot about one length irons and weapons certain players like the ball position but for me I still just like it out a little bit further forward like I'm hitting the normal 5-iron I just have to stand like a 7-iron let's go for this third wall straight down the line again now those three golf shots are unbelievably straight but I've got to let you into a little secret I had to hit quite a few practice shots with the 5-iron before start filming just to remember what it was like to hit 7-iron leant 5-iron because at first it always feels a little bit weird and different three good golf shots I can't complain about those at all at all so let's have a look at some comparable numbers okay so just at this stage I've got all the numbers from the first test that I did with the f/8 on my phone here and so I can compare it compared to what I've just had done and let's just quickly took Tom the f7 f7 f8 7-iron the carry distance I was getting off the standard one was 185 the one length was 183 no real difference at all spin rate was 5303 rate was 5100 no real difference at all peak height was 37 yards up in the air with the standard that would actually just dropped a little bit lower but I think the second shot in that row did bring the average down slightly so I'm gonna read loads inside it's three yards lower but I'm not gonna read loads and loads of information these are just very very debatable strike etc club head speed for both of the irons was 93 miles per hour for both the standard f8 7-iron and the one length f8 7-iron we're going to expect that now I've got the 5i numbers let's have a look through that and I'm gonna move into the gap wedge as well so the 5-iron normal and standard land I was carrying the golf ball 209 yards with the one when I've lost nine yards of carry distance the carry distance there is that bang on two hundred yards the peak high I was getting with the 5-iron standard was 34 yards up in the air where with the Wunderland I'm only getting 28 yards up in the air and this is where it just the whole concept unfortunately just falls flat on its face for me if I can't hit that 5-iron high enough and I'm not getting that extra Len I'm gonna really struggle to play some of the golf courses certain that I like or certainly the shots I want to try and play when I want to hit these high five irons into greens I don't really want to be London it short and almost running oh that's what it feels like I'm going to do with this spin numbers are pretty much banging on the same four thousand one hundred and the biggest different even the ball speed the ball speed on the f8 5-iron was one three seven the Wunderland is only one three three and that all comes down to clamed speed the walnut I have just tested there that was swinging I was swinging that 94 miles per hour the standard one I was swinging near 297 it was ninety six point five miles per hour so much you know couple miles per hour extra speed just completely comes from the length of the golf club being different completely does I was hoping for better I cannot grumble with the fly of those three golf shots but like I said before I have to hit quite a few shots just to figure out what that felt like again I can't grumble with the direction I'm just I'm frustrating if I lost nine yards and also lost a good six yards in height and also descent angle descent angle before it was dropping in there at 44 degrees angle that's dropping in there at 40 degrees angle not great not what I wanted to see let's move back to the gap wedge now where now this little 7-iron length gap wedge just to finish off the comparison as well okay so now we move back to the gap wedge and this one again is a really important side of the spread spectrum to test this theory in we've got the standard gap wedge and then we've got the one length gap wedge which is the same length as a 7-iron and the only thing that slightly changed is the neck is ever so slightly smaller and the lie angle is ever so slightly different but the lofts are the same in fact actually just the back edge of that it looks like the on the f8 Wang one the top edge of that slightly closer to the top edge of the wedge here is actually a bit thicker but that's to do with weighting where you've not got on the standard length this always feels so long I played the British masters with the tallest man in Britain porst ridges and the when I hold this I feel like I'm holding his golf club it just feels so long even though that the difference is only a degree and a half it's not much at all and my biggest gripe with this last time opposite to the 5-iron this was actually going to high let's see if they've actually changed that sauce the same law 49 degrees it's got 122 the flag I'm certain look like a 7-iron the highest girl shot I've ever here my life it just feels like I'm hitting an out-and-out flop shot that's that is mentally hot it's so high it's untrue and mainly just because I can generate more speed the more speed I can put into the golf ball the more high I'm going to be able to get one to four Kerry account wait to compare these numbers in the minutes of the wedge so the gap wedge when I tested it on standard length let's go a couple more I mean I'm here now as a driving range here and I'm actually losing sight of the wedge as it's in flight it's going that high and I don't not even want to test sand wedges do I lose the actual visual height of it let's go one more with the gut wedge not as high that time I didn't catch it quite as good but just unbelievable and it's all because of combat speed I'm sure but I'm convinced about I'll just generate so much more club head speed as I've looked at the numbers between standard and one length for the gap wedge okay so the numbers are in and we see somewhat of a similar issue carry distance maybe about actually quite a bit six yards difference between the standard and the one length so the wrong length there on a full shot was carrying at 125 yards it was going 35 yards up in the air and just because it's so close it's going straight up and so high it just looks unbelievably high but compare that to the standard FA gap wedge I carried that 119 yards when I'm hitting it normal I peek out was 32 yards in the air and it's weird that only 3 yards of difference but I think because of perspective it's so much closer to me 3 yards when I'm hitting a driver I don't think I can really tell 3 yards when I'm hitting a gap wedge seems like a lot just because the perspective is so much closer to me and when I look at some other numbers spin rate is slightly higher on the wrong land than it is to be fair it's pretty much the same I'll tell that back it's almost exactly the same around that just under 9,000 mark and the big one for me is the ball speed and the club head speed with the standard length I was I was averaging at 95 miles per hour on the ball speed where the one length I'm averaging at 99.9 so it's like four miles per hour more Y all down to club head speed so with the standard gap wedge I was swinging at 88 miles per hour with the Roland I'm swinging that at 92 miles per hour so I four miles per hour more and if you look that 92 miles per hour in 92 93 is what I swing to 7-iron speed at length so all these clubs at a 7-iron length I'm just swinging it that speed because of the length allowing me to do so I'm still not convinced I know this there's positives in this one length idea I really am I just don't see I think they had a great opportunity to really make some big changes in the way that the ball is flighted differently with the long irons and even in the short irons and today I did not notice that at all I could be still in the same test from last year the same Wunderland times last year I'm not seeing enough of a difference between the standard and the one length when I say and enough of a difference I mean I'm actually I want to see a flight when I when I picture a 5-iron I'm picturing a serve fly I'm gonna cut when I hit the wall and 5-iron I'm not hitting that fly it's much lower it's losing my distance it feels controlled yes I don't know if that's kind of root of golf - I saw them on play I'd love to hear your thoughts down below I really would let me know is the walnuts ideas something of interest to you have you tried them do you know people have garma let's let's start a bit the discussion down below I'll jump in there and comment as well just let's figure out what is this one length idea I still don't believe that's a massive difference I like the f8 range of golf clubs I love the idea that's got the Cobra connects and all of those little you know cool pieces of technologies blended into golf I'm just not convinced about this one length I did this yet guys thanks watching hopefully you enjoyed the video if you did hit that thumbs up on subscribe to channel if you are new don't forget to check out all of the other Cobra f8 range on my channel and we'll see you next time thanks watching
COBRA KING F8 ONE LENGTH IRON
you know just holding onto the wedge at this this length it just feels like it's gonna go miles yeah yeah but it doesn't actually go that far 121 121 we're going f8 yeah Club and we're gonna reach with that so we go forward to a hundred let's go to a hundred let's go for 200 let's get stuck here right we now walk forward to about a hundred dancers gonna zap again 102 lovely walking down so we're gonna try King Cobra f8 or Cobra King f8 one length irons all irons the same length seven iron I think our costs in the top powered by so you can collect stats on them as well which is quite a clever thing for people who are starting it yes I think it worked good should we go to shots in here to charts damn thirst to see what you got can we control the longer wedge it's a quite big and chunky to look at its the chunkier version isn't it chunky version but it's slightly lower lofted I think yeah I'll check that around that yeah so this is the more as they would call game improvement version of the single here I'll give you a little bit more help as they pull weights off the face cavity back maybe tan tungsten maybe in their double yeah we're gonna dare to show you how one length in an FA works on the core some real numbers as reliable testing looking at it closest so seven I length isn't it yeah okay I like this little knockdown shot okay placer but do you like it with a club ceiling that long not sure see very windy today Dan you happy that staying on I don't know how that stays on in this wind he does like this shot oh it's just overturned more like four is in the length ah it's it one length in your chart another go okay felt lovely up the face just felt like I was in a little knockdown 7-iron could you gain something that shape as in that size bigger like that obviously for other people that size is going to inspire a lot of confidence yeah it is but it it's not overly it's not overly big to be fair to not overly controlling me yeah it's not it's got a top line but again a little low-key one not particularly down the shaft there you're trying to stay at the one lens yeah I'm just yeah I don't I don't like going down the grip even though these are I think some of those that continued out any dope tapers like going down the grip [Applause] that's better he started that more out to the right to allow for that little drawers but to say horse bit long I'm spinning where it comes I'll show you that and sad that was spinning military Russian that felt good okay mark have you gained these if you played these I've played one limiting tests on the course you know I played a few all nine all yes yeah and how do you feel with him yeah I can handle them I actually quite like one knows yeah yeah and how does this one look down there surprisingly not too crazy bit considering it's the game here model yeah I agree if you look at the other irons as we go because we've got a seven I and and then we've got a long line as well as some dry casting okay I generally don't mind having a longer wedge like this [Applause] it's just started on the flag and it's just turning slightly heavy you catch that a bit heavy yeah which is why I didn't get the direction quite right and you've won though all right wanna I will replace this dimension is nothing but a strike yeah needed okay starting out a little bit further right it's not coming back as alien hasn't the distance look at that screaming me that's the tuning loss rubbish of all the clubs I test they're the hardest ones jump out on the course and try because they are so different as they are so so even I have a mix I've had some good results of them I do stand over there strong wind haven't played over the Christmas spirit thinking not really sure where this will go where if you gave me my normal weight even though I have any that one for the same period of time I'd have to sing feelings but I would feel I have more kind of history to go on so I think that's the only downside with them is that people won't have to adjust and how willing are they to adjust well like the market share and everything will let us see over time yeah but I mean I could be I could do what lots of people do and say that's a rubbish curve because I've hit bad shot well I know that was all me one leg from my head makes sense I feel I could like to pull it off and tip back at down tip that cap to to get shots and dance be honest so one landing right up here by the flag as such and then spinning back as we go into the wind and this breeze pitched and you can see the one back here so he's using slope with some spin landing and then coming back to a pretty good shot I pushed mine landed pin-high and spun back and I kind of fight it the first one it was lucky to get there two good shots from down there - Neal we will play the next and see what we get out of it but my initial thoughts with the look of that for a chunky while I was quite impressed yeah I thought it was quite a nice Club I've seen uglier chunky cups I would agree with that so one limp we're gonna go with a 5-iron there off the tee and see where that leaves us to hopefully getting within a wedge or we might have to play some funky 7-iron for the three clubs we've got out on the course yeah so fire now feeling short Dan definitely shorter big hair does it make it look bigger or not I'm seen it yeah no it isn't shorter do you know what I mean does it look bigger not really no it was quite nice looks fine nice down the ball darlin come on then wind off the straight off the only one up or two up was that not just one game that we just if you want to call that one game my math will be water don't be so aggressive mr. passive oh that was a noise well out a good shot do it oh well yeah so far well right sinner it out it's a no where I've hit it on the faith they've done much it's a little bit of offset down by the ball medium the top line I do start seeing the back of the club at the back of the five eye which is in a massive problem because it is the chunkier version the shorter length as I've said look you've seen enough of my one length reviews is actually in the long irons often the most pleasing it feels a bit like cheating we collect the drive all day with these clubs as well let's take you inside and show you what we got having f8 one length Stan likes a bit at one then so I'm carrying one eight one we're hitting the 5-iron because we're hitting a club obviously which has got 700 correct yes isn't it hitting a six or seven arctic you don't close you'll get just those numbers for the longest time we've got I'm 1/8 ones down is one eighth nineteen Wow he is launching at 13 I'm launching at 15 but his spin is three 7s and my 4000 so Danny's getting low spin bomb balls out of those tights on those 28 - 28 for you 25 so I'm not I'm quite happy with the big kite it's a fraction lower but yours is a bit low isn't it yeah with one length when you go into the motor irons and spin drops off and they go low launch here I'll get up there numbers of good inside yeah I think they went the distances we needed them to go yeah changing the grooves on each Club to make sure the spin stays in line for the different loss yeah because obviously the big balance with one man who's always making sure you've launched them up in the air and get right spin rates when you start mucking around with the length you know I think Cobra have made enough one length clubs now to really start to kind of marked with that as much as possible we also get this bit carbon in the background which is happening with sound off the face that's literally there to make it not to ting you yeah forged or bass and obviously I think we're getting a nice bit waiting here at the bottom it's all where to try and how to get the wort in the air quite strong loss and they are strong loss but they push up in the air yeah spin was a loopy loopy low so not a bad performer let's see you can get them closer to the heart I think that's always the key isn't it yeah getting that ball in the OL I think it's what you meant to do with golfers I lost [Music] one 13 now one 13 that this is interesting I hit my really good yeah I'm just here makes it in this part danto I towed and you've run up to here yeah mine is landed here to stop here so strike rules condition then takes its effect yeah no matter what those dry balls eight a numbers are what they write about the club and the tech bounce and roll and kick so just playing such a big role yeah absolutely team wins slightly healthy slightly helping write writes maybe lift clean and place alright yeah I think we could define today as winter golf he's gonna hit the little wedge again yeah and it is I think it is a little wedge I mean I think I'm perfect for your little draw wind off the ride yeah I mean I've always and I when I tested the other one length that they did I remember sort of saying at the time that you know just holding onto the wedge at this this length it just feels like it's gonna go miles yeah yeah but it doesn't actually go that far you're getting quite good numbers considering the length change and I mean one that's have been out long enough now I think I'm kind of I know they're going to do what they need to do within reason it's just I'm always a bit wary of that long I and just being a bit low spinning and not get on the air which they seem to have done what a bad job with great okay slightly uphill stay there he's pulled it a bit in the winds after crying that massive could be long that looks massive yeah that's just me is this not worth two games join another guy I think I deserve another go you know just holding onto the wedge at this this length it just feels like it's gonna go miles yeah yeah but it doesn't actually go that far okay I've just mine yeah I think so I think it's more downwind and obtained into consideration there this is interesting so I've got too much Club and I'm gonna manufacture but it is a wedge you would always manufacture in a wedge but I've obviously got the longer Club so can it be done nice looking sharks a little bit left the target I think that's probably about pin either I'm quite happy with that and again and there's the contrast is there from the Duff to the push yeah but not going a little left pulled slightly above the feet I had no problem feeling the distance control and even on the last one of them land pin art I am just a sponge right yeah then it would be distance control little bit of direction but moment distance control that I'd be questioning with such a long wage but questions seems to get after than they're you know just holding onto the wedge at this this length it just feels like it's gonna go miles yeah yeah but it doesn't actually go that far very quiet so I pitched just roll forward again about pin-high distance of chosen to point back on the fairway Dan I don't think we can put that down to the one therefore maybe we can like I was saying on the last hole you do need a few goes yeah right great I'm not sure you've done that with a standard length wedge but I can't back that up I don't know I guess but no I've got no answer for you on that yeah that was just a bad golf shot man well done you know just holding onto the wedge at this this length it just feels like it's gonna go miles yeah yeah but it doesn't actually go that far so we're going to finish on a 5-iron Dan can only win all draw because he's to one up yeah one them to make it sense I think the big question with one length is always it's kind of can you be bothered and you grow them really that big of a problem but I think there are plenty of golfers out there who are looking for the secret answer and this might just kind of really tap into things that make sense with feeling like you're swinging on one angle and all that kind of stuff but you won't because you put different forces through the club which will make you put different angular forces through the club as well so it's more of a visualization thing like in your mind what you think the club should be doing then followed by a field thing and then I do like the 5-iron feeling sure yeah I agree I like Arcos yeah the other stuff around the face I see a chunky head that performs and pushes the ball up in the air and is quite strong lofted we can put all the fancy names on like they all do but that's what I see and I see a couple it's not got Massey's amount of offset as well which is quite I quite like there are people who want chunky clubs but don't want massive offset then this will kick that ball right 5-iron you can get close this that's a manifestation then a bunker might be bunker that it wasn't a great striking it was a bit of a push god come on them yeah last one was a bit how he wasn't it to stand a bit closer yeah tell my Rory izes lo did you strike it I mean it should be on probably bit merely but it's good it's a gamer maybe onto the backlash it's a decent job and it you know it felt lovely felt really no any cookies could you gain them I think I have done in the past as you know I have gained the one length irons I only gained it from six iron five iron and four iron I think as you mentioned before you know can I be bothered to make that massive yeah with the short clubs and the answer is I don't think I've got the time to make that effort yeah that's what I mean I am in the bunker Diana Sega won 3-1 down well played and now he's a very good shot on this hole today I mean that's just a birdie putt it is I like it today yeah you've got no problem no problems with them as well I think there's a the big question is do we want to change I have I've never really felt like my curves are too short or too long no no I'm exactly the same I think the people looking for the answer hoping for more consistent strikes and I'm not saying they deliver that but it might just try to trigger something in their imagination yeah that allows them to stay in the ball bit better and then use them again main thing is you go and test them good thing with these clubs is often golf clubs have sets though that yeah so you might be out of actually getting out and of course and do what we do is my opinion is one of the best ways to test let me know let's go much down below as always thanks for watching you know just holding onto the wedge at this this length it just feels like it's gonna go miles yeah yeah but it doesn't actually go that far [Music]
hi guys it's Rick shields down here at Qwest golf gotta meet here at Pro Sports village I'm gonna be testing and reviewing the new Cobra f8 driver and not only the driver I've got the f8 plus I've got the hey ions I've got the one length f8 hyeon's the fairway woods and the hybrids all in f8 from Cobra so this is quite a marathon of testing lots of new clubs to come to stay tuned FA drivers remove that massive head cover and underneath we see a very very smart cool design in the f8 driver this is a black and grey finish they called the grey Nardo gray and this without question in my eyes is the best-looking Cobra driver they've ever made it looks so unbelievable and it features loads and new technologies I've not seen before in drivers at all well got quite a lot to cover but we'll go through the most important aspects first for me the face of this driver is probably the most eye-catching feature to this golf club as soon as you pick it up this has a milled face on the driver that has not been done in drivers ever before and certainly I know of you often see milled facing in irons in wedges and certainly in putters but Cobra claiming now with this new milled face technology you're getting the most precise driver face that's ever been made what that gives you as a golfer apparently is more consistency across the face more ball speed more distance we've heard that bit before we'll actually test that on GT quad hitting real pro V ones in this review we then also see a huge improvement of air flow around the heads they've really worked hard on the airflow they call this arrow or 360-degree arrow they've got these kind of new aerodynamic strips on the top even at the bottom as well that's again reducing air flow making this driver as fast as possible we've seen again that before in technology but not in this kind of way where it's more 360 around the face completely and then we see a very different top of this driver for a cold this is a multi-material we've got carbon at the back and then two titanium at the front this is not new we've seen this before I'm sure many people will say that very much looks like a tailor-made em1 and em2 and I can't argue with that at all it looks so much like a tailor-made and one of them too certainly this contrasting look across the top I'm not sure how a lot of people will view that I thought the em1 and em2 were very good looking drivers are people going to accept that in the cobra we'll wait and see in the f8 model we've got a weight in the back and a weight in the heel this FA is the standard model which is more suited to high spin and kind of get in the ball to draw a little bit I will test the FA plus in the next video we've also still got my fly loft where you can move the weight the loft and the lie angle eight different ways to again fine-tuning this driver let's get hitting this so there's still more technology just wait I feel like I need to hit a shot before we continue with more technology so I've got this in nine and a half I've got this in the Isle dealer rogue I've been fitted for this extra stiff shaft the shaft that I typically use and wow that driver from the top right let's concentrate let's hit some shots probably one was GC quad Cobra f8 driver awesome and that's come out like a rocket I'm expecting a little bit of draw bias because the weight is in the heel even though it's only a two gram weight it has got a bit of heel bias to it that's come out really nice to eight-six carry for 308 really good fly spin rate was lower there at 2100 ball speed was high at 163 can see a load of data there up on screen strike location kind of middle on the equator line now typically what I've seen from Cobra drivers in the past and this is always my gripe is off bottom hits I don't seem to get the performance that was close to that borderline where I think if it went a little bit lower in normal code in Cobra drivers in the past I've seen big drop-offs and performance let's see if that's actually the case in the new F it looks awesome that felt them sounded really solid and Obama that's high off the face that is super low spin and that is long that his long that's the one where I catch it slightly higher off the face with the Cobra driver and I've got no complaints with Cobra drivers in the past when they've hit above the equator line it's just the shots below the equator line I've really struggled with that was smash you can see strike location there just above the center of the strike and that's come out so good what I do like about this Mill face is the mid-face almost has like a well it has a circle in the middle of the mill face which really kind of focuses your attention on the strike location and with it being a black face milled face it's actually very clear to see the dimple marks after you've hit a shot you can actually see the dimples quite clearly which I think for a lot of golfers again is a really good tool to be able to identify strike location now the FAA is a 460cc the FA plus is smaller but the FA is the full size full 460cc head and man that looks really mean the difference between the m1 or tailor-made driver compared to this is where the the front border it's almost a bit more of a v-shape so it does slightly focus your mind more to the middle and those fins on top very much remind me of what Callaway have done in the past and even ping with the turbulator z-- I kind of blend in a few different bits of technology there but this mil face is new didn't nobody's done that before so far very good from the first couple of shots I set a few more with this FA oh that's wrong two books that was a bit Toey not horrendous actually a little bit toeing these are big hits they are I'm very very happy with the length of golf shot I'm very happy with the ball flight the spin rate number seemed good was that a little bit low maybe on the spin yeah look touching Lowell at 1600 and this isn't the low spin setting this shouldn't be that low spin but it seems to be working nicely for me there yeah good three good golf shots now another feature in this driving we saw it in the f7 and this was kind of toyed with an a lot of people did like it they seemed to get a lot of data for me is the Cobra Connect which is powered by our car still sits inside the grip and this is a tool that can be linked to an app on your phone and when you hit you driver the phone knows you've hit that Club because it vibrates and it hears the sound and starts recording how far you've hit certain shots and that's a really good tool and that's actually sick this new Cobra Connect is actually sitting in all of the golf clubs in all of the new f8 I'm really a massive fan of this so far let's just have a quick look at those three golf shots cuz I don't think I'm gonna hit three goods goal as good at golf shots as that and I want to test another few to see what happens if that horrible bottom strike does creep in so we look at the data there across the screen and the three videos I've just hit three shots have just hit there I mean numbers you just don't get any better than that for me and my driving to 89 carry for 312 total distance 1800 spin bear in mind this is not the low spin version so like absolutely exactly where I'd want to be with the driver 161 ball speed launch angle 13 degrees it just does not get any better and honestly the field of sound the flight the look a tick in every single box to me I'm gonna get three more just to see what happens if I do get out with nasty little bottom strike I'm not gonna try and get it but it's just white that they're the three amazing golf shots as white those hit three more and just see what happens and I mean white those next two start again so the one issue I've always had slightly with a cobra driver if I do catch it bottom I find that spin rates really shoot up I'm gonna three more drives and see if that shot actually creeps in it might not do but let's see if it does yeah that's not as good a golf shot let's see how that's performs I didn't absolutely get every bit of that it's done ok it's done ok you'll see strike location on screen in a minute but it's kind of my wave just be able to highlight any kind of inconsistencies across the face see 262 at 3000 spins and you'll see in the next clip where the strike location took place much more much slower much more off the bottom I wasn't intentionally trying to do that but cuz I hit up on the ball quite a bit four and a half five degrees sometimes the bottom strike does creep in it's always been my slight concern with the Cobra driver I almost feel like it those sue players that hit down on the ball a little bit more and potentially hit slightly higher on the face that's done ok I'm not too worried about that shot considered when I hit it so badly let's go a couple more that was a nice a hit yeah see the difference okay I mean it's almost carried the distance of the others total golf shot that was more 1,900 spin so just under 2,000 and you'll see up on screen in a second I mean that that shot is carried the total distance of the last shot strike location above that equator line and I must admit I've accessed through the ball they have swung at zero path to zero face but still got four degrees up I sometimes feel like with a cobra driver I've got to hit down on the ball a bit more to get the right flight but I seem to be getting some very very good numbers off different part to the face let's go one more yeah that was an N just maybe ever so slightly off the bottom of the golf club as long as it's getting there in kind of two sixties I can live with that because deep down I know that wasn't a good golf shot so I can kind of go all right that's that's all right I've got I still got it down there still got it in play yeah two five eight carry quite short for my normal hits but where I struck on the fat face you'll see that that's kind of popping up quite clearly in a minute yeah see how it's below the equator line I still think there's a concern there between forgiveness and and spin numbers when that strike happens low on the face but when it's actually catching middle to high on this driver Wow I'm all over it I'm absolutely all over it I think the performance the looks the field of Technology the idea of the mill face there's a lot of talk about whether this milled face is gonna produce more spin well I don't think that's the case if anything I think it's trick to even spit more spin off the advantage of the carbon crowns you can stick more weight in the bottom of the driver that's what they've done I think they've made a bit of a mistake of copying the m1 m2 look on top is a big mistake on their part but in this black and gray this Nardo grey with the Cobra connects I mean it's got a lot of things going for it it really really has and I think this could be a huge hopefully huge turning point with Cobra they've gone from they've now stuck to a product line as well they've got f6 f7 f8 I think it's really important for Cobra to do this year because there's some continuity some consistency you might have seen the five years test a bit recently I wasn't blown away at all I was actually quite disappointed this has taken it up that level again for me which I'm really impressed with and loads of Technology I'm very impressed with what it's doing how it's looking how its feeling the ball flies to performance everything and bearing in mind this is not the driver that should suit me this is more forgiving version I'm gonna test the f8 force next video stay tuned for that and then we're gonna move into that fairway woods the hybrids and the irons loads more videos to come thanks for watching guys stay tuned subscribe to channel fibra knew that was the king of the cobra King f8 driver very very pleasing numbers it's watching comment below what do you think we'll see you soon
